Golden Boy Mike

Golden Boy Mike's dad was one of the first mobile DJ's in the 1950's and one of the first to have a stereo sound system. At age 10 he began assisting his dad and learning the music business. His dad instilled a love of music in his heart through his work and collection of 3,000 records and 9,000 tapes. At age 15 he started performing his own shows. He was a teenage breakdancer and later helped to build and manage his college's fm radio station, doing a house music mix show on the air for 2 years. His degree is in Journalism/Communications (Radio Broadcasting) and also has some TV background and experience in organizing large parties. From 1985-1995 he DJ'd in various Chicago area clubs and ran his own mobile DJ production company, MJS Productions, before moving to San Diego, California. A highlight of his career at this time was DJ'ing in front of 3000 people at a waterpark. Since he grew up in the Chicago area his musical roots/influences are house and techno music. Artists like Fast Eddie, Tyree Cooper, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Jesse Saunders, and house music DJ's such as Bad Boy Bill, Julian Jumpin' Perez, Mike Hitman Wilson and many others have all contributed to his mixing style. His musical tastes have recently expanded to HiNRG and trance, but he has a little of everything and can specialize in 1985-1995 Chicago house music if needed. His current goals are to hold multiple club residencies, promote club nights and parties, produce records, air his mixes on the radio, and take dancers to a higher level through his mixes. He has weathered many changes in the music scene and now is making his mark as a DJ, promoter, and eventually as dance record producer. Because of his mixing background and club experience he knows what makes a song easy to mix, which makes a crowd dance, and thus pass the test of time. He has also written a dance song and is looking for the right partners to record, produce, and distribute it on vinyl. DMT Productions (DMT3.com) signed him to a management contract in January 2001 and later that month he released his "HiNRG" Cd. In February 2001 YSB Productions and the Kraken in Cardiff, California offered him a residency. Djcentral.com added him to their roster in May 2001. In early June 2001 MJS Productions organized/promoted a "Re-mix" party that drew 240 teens and received newspaper coverage from the Coast News, North County Times, and Del Mar Times. He was offered his second residency in June 2001 from No Neck Records "Tuesdays are Fridays" in Encinitas, California. In July 2001 Electrogroove.com posted his photo, "HiNRG" Cd, and bio and Nokturnal.net made his "HiNRG" Cd a Featured Sound. Also in July 2001 his bio, photo, event listing, and appearances were added to Eventvibe.com, bio and photo were added to Promotelocaldjs.com, and bio, picture, and event listing were added to Sdclubs.com and Westcoastclubs.com. In October 2001 he was accepted at the prestigious TheDjList.com for voting on the world's best dj's. November saw the release of his "Sweet Dreams" Cd. In December 2001 MJS Productions was offered the Tuesday night program at Martini Ranch, Encinitas and after the third Preview Show it was dubbed Club Dream for the Grand Opening in January 2002 and has been growing every week! Golden Boy Mike is North County San Diego's busiest DJ having played over 65 shows in recent months including The Kraken, Martini Ranch, Canes, Jolt'n'Joe's, Neiman's, Dream Street, Electric Avenue, Club Vinyl and more. His "HiNRG" Cd is featured on several club websites and his follow up "Sweet Dreams" is available at Blaze Records in Escondido, CA.
