Metin
Born Metin Erman, to a Turkish father and an American mother, February 20, 1975 in Buffalo, New York, where he resided until age 18. An avid club goer since he was 17, he spent many late school nights in the early 90's listening to various mix shows on Toronto's now famous Energy 108 and Niagara Falls' 101.1, The Point with Dr. Trance. However, while his dance music archives grew, it wasn't until his graduation from college that he started his DJ career. Upon moving from Buffalo to Cincinnati, he met and became close friends with Marshall Lewis, who took him to the clubs, mainly Bourbon St. It was there that Metin met his first major influence, Chris Tromboli. Chris was the person who let Metin hang in the booth and showed him all the styles and techniques. It was also where he met his second major influence, Sean Shirk (DJ Quantum). Prior to moving to Columbus, where he currently resides, DJ Metin began spinning at "The Alley", Columbus, premier after hours spot, in the summer of 1999 for the six month period it was open. Then came his first residency at The Venue, followed by "Millennium and Club 54 (fall 2000). During this time, Metin had also performed at major clubs in Columbus, with capacities 0f 1000-3000, such as 87 West, Red Zone, Mekka, Axis, The Garage, Liberty's, Club 501, and Bourbon St(Cinci). DJ Metin had his mix tape aired live on WCRX FM in Chicago, on a show called "Chicago's Underground" to top it all off! While spinning at these hot spots He received help and support form headliners such as Sammy O (South Beach), Jay Goodwill (NJ), DJ Carlos (San Fran), Rick Mitchell (Atlanta), and many others that was greatly appreciated. While the fore-mentioned people have helped a great deal, no one has had a bigger influence than Jerry Calliste, Jr. With a musical style that can range anywhere from loungy/ jazzy house to hard trance, DJ Metin feels equally at home wherever he may play. DJ Metin says " Observing, watching, and most of all my willingness to listen to both their criticisms and praise as well as their advice were the main reasons for my success." An aspiring producer and recording artist, DJ Metin has also been remixing and producing tracks for the past year, and is planning a full album collaboration with Jerry Calliste Jr. (p.k.a. Hashim). Hashim, cofounder of Cutting Records INC. (NYC), and the artist behind the all time cult club classic "Al-Naafyush"(the soul) better known as "It's Time", has taught Metin some of the finer nuances of studio work and has been a wealth of knowledge and info about music and the industry in general. DJ Metin says "My first record will be the culmination of a dream that has finally been realized." DJ Metin looks forward to growing as a DJ and producer! "Knowing where I want to go, and being determined to get there, no matter what the cost, I firmly believe that I will leave my mark on the dance industry." DJ Metin adds, "success is a journey not a destination. It comes at a price and on it's own terms, not yours. If you are willing to pay the price and do what it takes, success will be yours."
