"PEACE AT HOME-PEACE IN UNIVERSE"

"PEACE AT HOME-PEACE IN UNIVERSE" was a gathering to cherish friendships of different cultures, and celebrate the dedication of my Waterfall Sculpture.  This sculpture, a symbol of "togetherness of differences in harmony and peace", is a large artwork, which is permanently on display at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Dino Antonopoulos in Flushing Queens, New York.

This event was the first step in presenting the "Peace" concept through intense personal visions that unite different expressions and art forms.  Through these events, and through the exchange of art and culture between nations, we can create social relationships with the diversity of different cultures and countries.

We begin this process with "The Waterfall" because this soothing artwork can give this message visually and can also become an example of how art brings people together from very different backgrounds through the appreciation of its exciting, universal concepts.

These peace events will hope to communicate the idea that people around the world can have different values, beliefs and political systems but instead of opposing these differences destructively, we can look at them with a constructive interest and exchange of ideas that would, clearly, make this a better world. By creating an opportunity to open new avenues towards bringing different cultures together, closer and friendlier, through common human behavior and introductions, we send forth the message that we can be different, but still together; that we are able to unite and to make positive changes for others.

Art has always been a dynamic interaction between action and reaction.  The combining of the creative dimensions of human behavior with logical and strategic plans can yield a great tool for the long-term goal of achieving togetherness.  Many art forms can sustain and nurture a universal language, thus building strong bridges between varying societies and cultures.

The introduction of unique, powerful and meaningful art to people will serve as the necessary sturdy bridge that beckons people forth, and emboldens them to connect with others and demand a world community committed to furthering the precepts of peace.

As a visionary and artist, I am dedicated to communicating and furthering these precepts through creating environments and art that bring people and ideas together.

Let us take a chance with one another and make a difference.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

Working on current difficulties and making a difference can be accomplished through positive activities. We have the choices of combining and using the institutions of art, science, technology and other creative dimensions of human behavior.

We can be different but still unified to make positive changes for each other through the bridges of all knowledge, arts, science and cultures, the money world and the inner most yearnings of human kind.

The Event: PEACE AT HOME-PEACE IN THE UNIVERSE

A.C.I. was presented the PEACE event in a home; at Antonopoulos Residence, NY, June 24, 2000.

Interchange art and culture between nations creates a sociable relationship. This event is a gathering to cherish friendships of different cultures and celebrate the dedication of the Waterfall Sculpture, which is a symbol of "Togetherness of Differences in harmony and Peace" by Ulku Unsoy. This occasion might become an example how art can bring people together from such different backgrounds through appreciation of an exciting concept.

Our confirmed special guest list includes TURKISH and GREEK Ambassadors, and representatives of UN APPEAL for PEACE and ROCKEFELLER Foundations and other associates for this event.

TOWARDS GLOBAL PEACE

Perhaps peace everywhere can be possible if others follow this example. So we hope an event such as this can become wide spread and create an atmosphere that will make the years 2000 on a century of world peace.
