IN LOVING MEMORY OF JEREMY D. FOSHEE

Loving Son and Brother * Trustworthy Friend

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?  Then said I, Here am I; send me.   Isaiah 6:8

On Veterans Day, November 11, 2001, Shawn Peek began our morning worship service by talking about the sacrifice of the men, women, and families of our military and that because they sacrifice a period of time in their lives, and sometimes even their lives, we as Americans reap the benefits of freedom---without doing anything. Just as Jesus Christ sacrificed His life for our spiritual freedom--we reap the benefits by simply accepting Him as our Personal Savior.

Little did we realize that morning as Patsy stood in that same service and paid tribute to her son that Jeremy would pay the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom in America.

Truly our hearts were saddened as word went out that Jeremy Foshee, one of our Church Family, was aboard the Army heloicopter that crashed into the waters off the Philippines on February 22, 2002.  Jeremy was Crew Chief aboard the MH-47E Chinook helicopter transporting Special Forces personnel that day when the helicopter exploded and crashed into water about 1400 feet deep.  The mission was in direct support of Operation Enduring Freedom, assisting the people of the Philippines in their efforts to rid their country of the same terrorist network that attacked our country on September 11.  Officials say the helicopter had completed three night flights between Zamboanga and nearby Basilan--thought to be a stronghold of Muslim extremist Abu Sayyaf.  Cause of the crash--which occurred about 30 minutes before the helicopter was scheduled to arrive at the U.S. logistics air base in the Philippines--has not yet been determined.

Why, we wonder.....In this life we will never know, but God in His Wisdom knows why Jeremy was one of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  Our hearts grieve for his parents, Bobby and Patsy Foshee, for his brother, Nicholas, and for family and friends who have been faithful in their support of this precious family.  But as the old song goes.......We will understand it better by and by.

Jeremy graduated from Pisgah High School in 1995 and joined the National Guard after graduation.  Those who knew him so well describe Jeremy as a role model, respected by teammates and classmates, always with a smile on his face;  the kind of person whom you'd expect to be where he was, patriotic to the point that he was willing to give up his life;  American to the bone, doing exactly what he always wanted to do, fly choppers.  Jeremy was athletic and liked sports, football, hunting, fishing, and repelling.  He was a good Christian young man who grew up attending church at New Home where his father presently serves as one of our deacons and his mother as one of our teachers.

Bobby, Patsy, Nick, and other family members........our Church Family loves you and grieves with you!

"The Lord knows the way I take, and when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold"  Job 23:10

NIGHTSTALKERS DON'T QUIT

Speaking about Foshee, Sgt. 1st Class John J. Williams summed up the creed that Nightstalkers don't quit.  "Every now and then you'll notice a Nightstalker with a fire in their eyes.....in Jeremy's eye's, you could just see the passion ignite."
