Happy Independence Day!!
To celebrate the holiday and also as a pretty exciting Wildcard Weekend, I would
like to announce the Our Dolls summer photo contest. The contest is in the same format as our last three contests,
however this time the theme is different.
Check out the new contest and the theme right here as well as on the contests page.

Because it is Greta Friday, I have updated my blog.
July 2nd, 2009
Since it is Story Thursday once again, the story of the trio's adventures in the Netherlands is continued:
The
Netherlands Episode #5:
Suzanne rolled over and stretched, and toppled off the ploufy bed onto the
floor. “Oh good morning dahling!” Cristal’s voice floated over
from the bathroom, where she was removing a cucumber facial mask. “Would
you like a special treatment and a hairstyling?”
“Oh
yes, thank you dahling.” Suzanne replied, reaching over to her bags and
grabbing her fluffy pink bathrobe.
Sonja was
sitting over by the window, and peering down with her hands clenched on the window seat edge.
She looked quite white in the face. Every time she would lean over a little
farther to see out the window, she would pull back very quickly, and grab the window ledge for support. Her legs wobbling slightly, she left the window seat and made her way to the vanity table, where Suzanne
was sitting with a mud mask on her face and cucumbers on her eyes while Cristal did her hair up in a fancy style that included
lots of pearls and flower bunches. “We are very high up in the air, d-dahlings,”
Sonja said in a wavering voice, glancing over at the window furtively even though it was across the room from her.
“Oh
yes,” Cristal said in an off-hand voice. “It’s far more fashionable to be high up in the air than down close
to the ground. You can be on the ground any day, obviously.”
“B-but
dahling, are you sure it’s… safe?” Sonja asked, gulping in
between her sentence.
“Of
course it is! Why else would Lavender Fox be staying here?” Cristal said, as though this closed the matter from further discussion.
About three
hours later, the trio was finally ready to go down to breakfast. They all had
their fanciest day dresses on, and Cristal had made sure that they all had elaborate hairstyles full of decorations, and lots
of jewelry. They were just stepping out the door, when Sonja let out a squeak. “I forgot my handkerchief!” She
said, dashing back into the room. When she returned, she looked quite white in
the face again.
“What
is it, dahling?” Suzanne asked, looking at her in concern. “My handkerchief was on the w-window seat,” she said in explanation, a dizzy expression on
her face.
They had
all the way down the hallway and took a left turn towards the elevators when Cristal stopped so suddenly, that the other two
ran right into her. “I left my wrap.
I simply must go and fetch it!” Five minutes later, they were back
by the elevators and stood together, waiting for the first one to arrive.
Ding. One of the elevator doors opened, and the three of them stepped inside, Sonja taking special care not to
step on the crack between the elevator floor and the hallway floor. The doors
were just closing, when Suzanne screamed. “MY PURSE!” And thrust herself between the closing doors. The other two
let out little sighs, and followed her out of the elevator and back to the room. Suzanne
bustled inside and returned out into the hallway half an hour later.
“That
took you a long time to get your purse, dahling,” Sonja said, sounding irritated.
She and Cristal were sitting outside in the hallway, trying to stay amused by discussing a painting of a vase of flowers
that was hanging on the wall. Suzanne drew herself up so that she looked more
dignified, “I had to retrieve my purse, and I also decided that the dress I was wearing did not suit my mood. And besides, I.. took a look out the window.. and… and…”
she trailed off swaying slightly on the spot, her eyes going slightly crossed.
Sonja took hold of her arm with a knowing glance, and helped her walk along back to the elevator. Cristal, however, gave a little snort, and looked quite skeptical as she fell into line between her two
friends.
When the
elevator doors flew open on the floor of the lobby, the trio stepped out, glancing around them for any glimpse of Mrs. Fox. With relief, they saw no sign of her, and thus they began happily discussing what
they should eat for breakfast. Suzanne was in favor of some Italian sausage and
omelets, while Cristal desired a plate of croissants with raspberry jelly, and Sonja would be happy with a cinnamon roll. They chit-chatted about various things on their way to the hotel restaurant, and when
they arrived at the entrance to “The Frozen Pond,” they were all in a far better mood than before.
This changed,
however, when the Dutch speaking waitress handed them their menus. “WHAT!” Cristal shrieked. “This is not
a breakfast menu, it’s LUNCH!” The other two looked equally unhappy
and glared at the waitress. She looked very confused, but motioned for them to
follow her to a table. They sat down, still grumbling, and they all simply
refused to look at the nearest clock, which read 2:00 PM.
When the
waitress had disappeared, Suzanne picked up the menu, her stomach making a loud noise indicating that food was necessary. “Ehh… dahlings?” Sonja
said, peeking over the top of her menu, “do you understand what any of these dishes mean?”
The menu looked something like this:
The Frozen Pond
Beverages:
- Karnemelk
- Drop
Lunch & Dinner:
- Stampot
- Pea Soup
- Kroket Frikandel
- Fresh Haring
- Saucijzen broodjes
- Hutspot
- Zuur Tong
Desserts:
- Via
- Apple Pudding met Geklopte Room
- Schoenlapper’s Tart
- Stroop Wafel
Sonja was
not the only one that was confused. The other two looked at each other, and Cristal
wrinkled her nose. “What on earth is Kroket Frikandel?”
Just then,
Suzanne gasped. “Hide!” She
hissed at the other two. Immediately they all three ducked beneath their menus. Sure enough, a few tables down from them Lavender Fox and her elegant friend were
sitting down and being handed menus by their same waitress. Mrs. Fox’s
voice drifted down towards them, and they strained to catch every word she said. “Yes,
I would like a drip of drop in my Karnemelk, danka,” Mrs. Fox said, casually.
They gave
each other significant looks, and the next time the waitress passed by their table Cristal ordered three cups of Karnemelk
with a drip of drop in each of them. As it turned out, however, Sonja was not
allowed to try the drip of drop in hers, because she was too young. She frowned,
and tried to get Suzanne and Cristal to let her, but to no avail. They all took
a sip of the Karnemelk at the same time, and were about to swallow when they all made sour faces and started gagging. It was with a great effort that they restrained themselves from spitting it out all
over the table. “What.. is.. this!”
Choked Suzanne. “It’s sour milk! Ughhhh!”
“Dahling,
it’s fashionable though, Mrs. Fox is drinking it, and so is everyone else in this restaurant! We must pretend that we like it!” Cristal said, shaking
her head and taking another sip. She made a very strange face as she swallowed,
but then rearranged the grimace into a very artificial smile and said in a higher-pitched voice than usual, “I love
Karnemelk!” The other two gritted their teeth, and followed her example. Soon,
they were gulping down the Karnemelk, exclaiming about how ‘delicious’ and ‘wonderful’ it tasted,
and they all ordered another cup. “I shall have to write a letter to Rachel
about how delicious Karnemelk is, and how everyone over here drinks it.” Sonja
said as she took out a piece of pink stationery from her purse. After the second cup of Karnemelk, however, they simply could not gag down any more.
“We
must listen for what Mrs. Fox orders to eat,” Cristal said conspiratorially. When
the waitress returned to Mrs. Fox’s table, she had her notepad ready to take down the order. Mrs. Fox looked down at the menu briefly, before ordering ‘Apple pudding met geklopte room.’
“She’s
ordering dessert!” Sonja said, looking back and forth between Cristal and
Suzanne, wondering what to do. “Oh dear,” Suzanne said, “I
suppose we shall have to take a chance and order something off this menu which we can’t understand.”
“Maybe if we all order different things, there will be at least one that is tasty,” Cristal
said reasonably.
They placed
their order, Cristal getting the Stampot, Sonja the Saucijzenbroodjes, and Suzanne the Zuur Tong.
When their
order arrived, they all inspected their plates. Cristal, it seemed, had received
a plate of potatoes, carrots and kale. Sonja’s plate had little sausages
rolled up in white dough, and Suzanne’s…well…
“EEEEAAAAUUCHHHHH!” Suzanne screamed, flinging herself backwards, away from the plate and almost toppling
off her chair. It appeared that she was about to taste pig’s tongue with
onions.
Mrs. Fox
looked over at the table with a piercing stare, and her and her friend moved to a different table, which was far away from
Cristal, Suzanne, and Sonja’s. Suzanne looked slightly guilty, but refused
to touch the food in front of her. They picked away at Cristal’s vegetables
and Sonja’s sausages, but when they waitress came by asking if they would like dessert, they immediately ordered stroopwafel,
schoenlappers tart, and apple pudding met geklopte room.
They were
happy to find that the desserts were absolutely delicious. “Now this is
more like what I expected!” Sonja said, licking her fingers and helping
herself to more stroopwafel.
Finally
they had eaten enough, and the waitress brought them the bill. Suzanne picked
up her purse and glanced at the total. This time, she actually did fall off her
chair.
“What
dahling?” Cristal said, looking at the bill as well. “It isn’t really that bad actually, only 45Dutch guilders!”
Suzanne
looked mortified. “Yes, which, in American money, comes out to about two
hundred dollars!!!”
At this
news, Cristal fell off her chair as well. Sonja, however, calmly took out her
purse and paid for the bill. “I don’t know what all the fuss is about,”
she said. “The stroopwafel was delicious.”
At that
moment, Cristal noticed that Lavender Fox had just left her table and was exiting the restaurant.
“Dahlings,
she might be going to the fashion boutiques, we must follow her to see where the most fashionable stores are!” They all leapt up and grabbed their purses and wraps.
Without a backwards glance at their messy table, they marched purposefully out of the restaurant and after Mrs. Fox.
TO BE CONTINUED!

Because it is Greta Friday I have written a new blog which you can check out here.

It's Story Thursday! Kirsten Larson was a horse person. That doesn't mean she looked like
a horse, it just means that she prefers horses to any other kind of animal, sometimes even humans. She just loved to
talk to horses, to take care of them, to ride in the hills with them.
So you can imagine she was pretty upset when
Peder announced at breakfast one day that instead of getting his very own horse for his fifth birthday like his dad had planned,
he would like to get a pig.
"What?! Peder, why would you want a pig?" Kirsten said, sitting up straighter
and looking across the table at her baby brother.
"Anna has three pigs." Peder answered, as though there could
be no other reason.
"But you can't RIDE pigs, Peder, you can't groom them. You can't feed them carrots and you
can't move fast at all!" Kirsten argued.
"Anna says that pigs are beautiful," Peder said, patting Anna on the
shoulder.
"They are! They are the sweetest little animals on the planet." Said Anna, who had named her
three pigs "Beauty," "Sunshine," and "Precious Penelope."
"Peder, dad has offered to buy you a horse. I think
you need to think really seriously about this because it's a big deal." Kirsten said, trying to spell this out in a
way that Peder would understand.
"I have thought about it, Koofen, and I want to get a pig like Anna." Peder
answered, solemnly.
Kirsten let out an exasperated sigh and turned to her younger sister.
"Anna, this is all
your fault. Not only is Peder starting to talk like you, he also is obsessed with pigs! Little boys should not
be obsessed with pigs! They should love HORSES!" Kirsten said.
"You're not a little boy." Anna answered,
taking a little sip of her apple juice and winking at Peder.
"Whatever." Kirsten frumped.
She was not
pleased. Why should her little brother be interested in getting a silly sloppy pig when he had the option to get a new
horse? Kirsten had saved her money for YEARS in order to buy her horse, Blossom. This was totally unfair.
But
Peder will do what he wants to do, and he and Anna are very close. Perhaps they will find a way to ride their pigs through
the hills, you never know what will happen in Pleasantville.

Since it is a Willow Wednesday, head over to her blog to check out her latest thoughts on things.
June 23rd, 2009
And what a lovely day
to post a Triple Tuesday. Today, instead of the usual doll letters updates,
I'm bringing you three separate new updates for the website.
1) The Message Board is back up, and now it has quite a few new sub-boards (extra categories to post under.) There is now a NafyCast section, a reviews section for doll-sized purchases, a section to discuss different kinds of dolls (American Girl, Magic Attic, My Twinn, Pullips, etc), crafts, and discussion about everything here in Pleasantville. It's pretty empty right now with all the new categories, so head over there and fill them up with your thoughts
and ideas!
2) I finally fixed the paypal buttons on the Violet's Clothes Boutique pages for the two Felicity gowns, the Proper School Uniform, and the Kirsten necessities. I hadn't realized that they were down. Sorry about that! Check them out and get some birthday
shopping done!
3) I've made a separate family page for the DeVecamont family (Lisa and Creme), which you can now find on the Tour of Pleasantville page. Enjoy reading about this little family and looking at some of their pictures.
June 22nd, 2009
Today for Doll Dress Monday we will continue adding Ana Valasquez's collection to the website with
her beautiful Mexican Lattice Shawl, which is made with a complicated but sturdy fabric and decorated with a long black fringe on the bottom.
The message board is down for maintenance today, but it will be back up tomorrow with a few new sub-boards for your viewing and posting pleasure.

Happy Father's day!!
Today is the day when all of the fathers in Pleasantville take a well-deserved break from the daily grind and spend the day
playing with their kids outside.
One of these days last year was when Peder and Anders Larson spent the day together
and Anders told Peder a very exciting story about how the town troll ended up in town square. You can read Mr. Larson's
yarn ended up right here: The Blustery Day.
Also, since it is Solana Sunday,
Solana has updated her blog.
June 20th, 2009
Have you ever had your
doll sit down to a nice bowl of spicy salsa that you made her, or a good soup, and wondered what she could eat it with?
The Montoya family often eats tortilla chips with their salsa and soups, to scoop it up and eat it with instead of utensils. Here
is a very easy way to make doll tortilla chips, which I have added to our crafts page:
How to Make Tortilla Chips.
Enjoy!
June 19th, 2009
Today's another Greta Friday, so I've updated my blog.
Also, if you are looking for some more to browse, check out our other website, which is growing (slowly)
and not nearly as big as this one, but coming along. It also has blogs for the three of us and is about our show that
is touring this summer, Celtic Rainbow.

It's Story Thursday!
Hooray!
"OUCH!" Kaya sat up so quickly that she hit her head
on an overhanging rock in her cave. She had been sleeping on one of her furs, when a very strange dream had come to
her. She couldn't remember the details, but it had ended up with her sitting in the Hair Salon on a fluffy pink sofa,
with a lacy pink dress on and a huge satin bow in her hair.
Feeling slightly panicked, she reached up and touched the
back of her head, just to make sure there was definitely no satin bow. All she could feel was a big bruise where
she'd bonked her head from sitting up so fast to try and rid herself of the terrifying image.
The sound of barking came from outside, and Tatlo came bounding in through
the furs hanging over the cave entrance, letting in a bright stream of sunshine. Since Kaya had no time to adjust to
the light from the cool darkness of the cave, she accidently walked right into another jutting piece of rock that she usually
avoided. "OWWW!" She yelled, clutching her forehead. She could already feel a big bruise there, and it hurt.
"Grrrr.. Tatlo!" She growled. "Go outside!" But Tatlo
did not pay her any attention, and started helping himself to the berry cakes that she'd made for the afternoon ceremony
instead. She snatched them out of his reach and stormed out of the cave. She stalked off in the direction of town
square, muttering to herself and kicking aside branches here and there.
The branches that were laying across the path, however, became bigger
and bigger as she moved along, and finally she tried to kick a large one aside and stubbed her toe on it. This caused
her to hop up and down on one leg, yowling like a wolf cub, until she lost her balance and tripped over another
branch, tumbling down into a prickly bush, the berry cakes flying out of her hands and splattering all over her face.
Just then, the sound of a humming voice came from down the trail, singing
a tuneless song that sounded more like a chant than anything. Speaking Rain came into view, picking up the branches
that were strewn all over the path as she sang. She stopped right in front of Kaya, and turned to stare at her.
She stood there for a while with a straight face, and then burst into
laughter. "Ha ha ha ha!" She yelled. "Ha ha ha! You look so funny Kaya! Ha ha ha!"
"That's ENOUGH." Kaya said, wrenching herself out of the bush, and
trying to look intimidating. "I not have my little sister laugh at me!" She said, glaring fiercely at Speaking
Rain, who was still chortling and holding her sides.
"Oh noooo," Speaking Rain replied in mock respect, "must look up to older
sister! She so graceful and good at stalking. If me like her, me catch big animals." She burst
into renewed laughter, and continued along the path, picking up the branches and
shaking her head.
Kaya yelled after her, "It your fault I fell down! What
all these branches for?"
Speaking Rain turned around. "They're from tree I cut
for new teepee. I no live in dark cave."
Kaya didn't reply, but strode off in the opposite direction
from Speaking Rain, towards town square. The truth was, she had been meaning to make herself a new teepee for the
last few days, but had not even got around to starting it. She couldn't stand that Speaking Rain, her little sister,
was going to have one first!
She made her way through town to the Post Office, where she found Laura
sorting through some mail and snacking on some potato chips. Laura looked up and almost started laughing at Kaya's appearance,
until she saw the ferocious look on Kaya's face.
"Uh, hey, what's up Kaya?" Laura said, trying to sound casual.
"I had nightmare about being in hair salon wearing ugly pink things in
my hair!" Kaya said, leaning against a wall moodily.
Laura had to think about that for a second. "Wait.. you look like
that because of a nightmare?"
"NOO," Kaya said, looking irratated. "Nightmare messed
up whole morning! I hit head on cave wall, run into other wall, Tatlo
eat my berry cakes for ceremony, then stub toe on branch in path, trip over other branch in path, fall in prickle bush, and
sister laugh at me!"
"Dude," Laura said, looking sympathetic. "That IS a tough
morning. What if Hun-Ya-Wat sent you that dream to see how you would handle it? Maybe it was a test to see how
you would deal with the worst? Who knows, it could just have been to make you feel thankful that you aren't Cristal
or Sonja, y'know?"
Kaya thought for a minute, considering this interesting statement.
Finally she sighed. "You might be right, Laura. I should not be so angry! Probably fail the test. "
She hung her head and started to leave the Post Office.
"Hey wait," Laura said, catching up with her. "How about we
go up to my house for lunch. Mom's barbequing, want to come?" Kaya didn't take much convincing. The two
of them turned in the direction of Laura's house, passing right in front of the hair salon. Kaya resolutely stared anywhere
but at the pink building. "That's right," Laura said, "It was ONLY a dream."

June 12th, 2009
And now it's Greta Friday, so I've updated my blog with some musings about the Merriman's house among other things.
June 11th, 2009
It's Story Thursday!
Here you go.
Early in the morning on a summer's day town square was found quiet and empty. But
not for long. A door opened and closed sharply and into the square came Lisa Devecamont in a white dress with a very long
black sash that perfectly matched her white cat-eye sunglasses. Lisa walked across town very quickly and hurried into the
bank. She filled up her coffee pot, and her candy bowl before going behind her desk and opening Mrs. Merriman's management
column to read while she waited for her first costomer of the day.
Across from the bank, delicious smells were wafting out of the Wickon's house.
Mrs. Wickon was frying up some Italian suasage for breakfast and singing "I could have danced all night!" from "My Fair Lady"
at the top of her lungs.
Cristal was next door having a very light breakfast with Katherine. The meal
consisted of two cinnamon rolls with Karnemelk (a dutch drink.)
Kirsten Larson stumbled into town square wearing her night gown and a very sleepy
expression. She flopped down in the chair next to the foodstand and started to write back to all of her letters.
Kirsten's opposite was walking towards the General Store at a fast walk. The
door's bell jingled as Felicity Merriman opened the front door and stepped inside flipping the sign to OPEN in the shop's
window. While she waited for costomers, she straightened the fabric display and organized all of the tea boxes. Soon the door
jingled open again and Louisa Hawkins entered. "Ah." Said Louisa walking over to the patch of the store that was bright pink,
"How much for two more of these Nafy's Jammies?" Felicity's eyebrows rose so high that they were in danger of disappearing
under her straw bonnet. "Very well, that will be five dollars." Said Felicity in a very skeptical tone of voice.
More noise filled the town as more and more people opened up their shops or started
making breakfast.
Constable John Wickon was patrolling near the bank eating and drinking his coffee
and donuts, staring at all of the passers by and trying to find something that they were doing wrong. John looked towards
the post office and saw Laura Windmill wearing her normal sweat pants and T-shirt. Laura dropped her heavy backpack inside
the post office and than hopped onto her bike to start the morning mail rounds.
A very strange noise was coming from the bank roof. Vera Purr was was playing on
her musical saw again which was driving Lisa mad. "WoooooooOoOoooo WWWwahhhhyoooo Weeeeeoooollllleeeee" went Vera's saw.
Everyone was at work now and various people were jogging or talking or (in Vera's
case) playing musical instruments all throughout town square. Daily life in Pleasantville had begun once again.

It's Story Thursday, so we
bring you:
THE
NETHERLANDS, Episode #4:
“We would like a room for three please,” Cristal told the concierge at the
front desk of the Hotel de Dutch. “Actually, a suite would be nice on second
thought. What do you think dahlings?”
She turned to the other two for confirmation. Suzanne nodded, “yes,
only the best for the best of course.” The man wrote down their information. “Very well, that will be $1000 per night.”
Cristal practically choked, and Suzanne gulped loudly. Suzanne let out
a nervous laugh. “Em.. ehehe..
actually perhaps it would be better for us to take a normal room, as there are only three of us. We wouldn’t want to get lost in a room that large now would we Cristal dahling?” Cristal still looked like she was about to be sick, so Suzanne completed the reservation and had a bellhop
bring their bags up to their room.
Meanwhile, Sonja had been tugging on Cristal’s sleeve for the last fifteen minutes,
a terrified expression on her face. Cristal, who still looked quite stunned however,
had not even noticed. Finally, Sonja gave up on Cristal and turned to Suzanne. “Dahling!” She wailed, “You simply won’t believe who I saw
in the lobby.” Suzanne was trying to fasten her bulging purse and did not
hear her correctly. “Who is eating sloppy?” She asked, absentmindedly. “Noooo, dahling listen!” Sonja said frantically. “I saw
Mrs. Fox in the lobby!” Suzanne and Cristal whirled around to face her
so fast that a few of people walking nearby had to jump out of the way.
“What did you say?” Cristal said
sharply. “Mrs. Fox. In the
Lobby!” Sonja repeated. Suzanne
closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “Stay calm dahling.. stay calm. We MUST NOT be seen by her! Do you realize we look like we’ve been stuck on
a dratted airplane all day?” Sonja looked confused, “but we have been stuck on a dratted airplane all day!” Suzanne took another deep breath. “I know that but look at your curls! They are a mess! A disaster! We cannot make a favorable impression on her if
we look like ragamuffins.”
“Ahem..” Behind them the concierge gave an annoyed little cough to get their
attention again. “Excuse me ladies, but here is your room key.” Suzanne and Cristal both reached for it at the same time. “I’ll keep the key dahling.” Cristal said
imperiously. “But I should be the one with the key,” Suzanne disagreed. “No no no,” Cristal said, “I will make sure that it doesn’t
get lost.” Suzanne glared at her.
“And you think that I would lose it?”
“Well, I have room in my purse for it.”
“So do I, and besides, I’m the eldest.”
“Oh, yes I suppose you are quite a lot older, but that means you might forget you
have it.”
“How DARE you say that I’m old!”
“Well you said it first!”
“At least I’m not a stingy know-it-all!”
“How DARE you say that I’m stingy!”
“Well I’m just telling the truth!”
“Well you’re an ungrateful little bag of laundry!”
“Well you’re an unfeeling nuisance!”
“Well in that case, I never liked your Spinach Souffle!”
“How DARE you!”
“Dahlings….” Sonja cut
in, “people are staring!”
They looked at her, and then realized that quite a few people were staring in their direction,
annoyed looks on their faces. The concierge looked like he had swallowed something
sour, and worst of all, Mrs. Fox was starting to turn her head in their direction.
“DUCK!” Cristal whispered loudly. The three of them ducked down under the concierge’s desk, all trace of the argument
forgotten. Ignoring the incredulous look on the concierge’s face, they
began whispering frantically. “What are we going to do?” Suzanne peered out from under the desk and looked around. “We will have to make it up to our room undetected by Mrs. Fox.
Follow me.” She sprinted
out from the desk towards a large vase of pink flowers by a pillar, and crouched behind it, before turning around and motioning
for Cristal and Sonja to follow her. She then tip-toed behind a coffee and tea table, and ducked underneath the lobby’s
grand piano. On all fours she crawled under the piano, and then hopped behind
a pillar on the other side.
Meanwhile, Sonja had made it to the piano and was attempting duck under it without hitting
her head. Cristal, however, had stopped at the coffee and tea table, and was
helping herself to a cup of coffee with five lumps of sugar in it. “Sonja!” Suzanne hissed, waving to get Sonja’s attention from behind her pillar. “Get Cristal!” She mouthed, pointing behind her. Sonja was not very excited
about this idea, but obediently turned around and tip-toed back to the table. “Come
on dahling, this is not the time for refreshment!” Sonja urged Cristal once she made it back to the table. “I know that of course, but this coffee is for free. Would
you like some tea, dahling?” Sonja looked at the tea bags and pointed to
one of them. “Ooh, that Dutch Almond tea looks quite delicious. I shall have a cup of that.”
Suzanne could not believe her eyes. “How
dare they enjoy tea time without me!” She sniffed. A few minutes later, Suzanne had a cup of coffee in her hands, and the three of them slowly made their
way back under the piano, trying not to spill their drinks. As they were about
to emerge on the other side of the piano, Cristal suddenly gave a squeak. They
all froze as they heard footsteps nearby and the sound of two voices.
“You know how it is, Brinkerhoff, if
they don’t let me have my way then I shall just have to go with someone else.”
Said one of the voices.
“Certainly, Lavender, you are quite right.”
The other voice agreed.
“It’s HER!” Sonja whispered. The three of them scooted back as far as they could go under the piano and waited
until the footsteps were far away. Then they all let out a sigh of relief and
got out from under the piano.
“That was far too close,” Suzanne said, looking quite exhausted. They found the nearest elevator and flopped inside, riding it all the way up to the seventeenth floor. Cristal, who had snatched the key at some point down in the lobby, opened up
the door to their room and they all three collapsed on the bed and fell fast asleep.

Since it is Monday, I'm
going to give you this recent dress that Solana made for Kirsten, which is called Kirsten's Blue Flowered Town Dress.
We didn't finish the podcast today like we were hoping, but keep
your eye out for it another day this week, sooner than next Monday.
Also, breaking news! Last night, Suzanne,
Sonja and Cristal returned from the Netherlands after being away from 5 months. Katharine was so relieved that she couldn't
let go of "Miss Cristal!" and Suzanne immediately fainted when she saw the state that her house is in with all its vines and
overgrown bushes. Josefina got called to the scene to sort everyone out, but it was very dramatic. The three of them
are all sleeping happily now, trying to forget about their problems here at home.

has been wearing a lot lately. This is one of her fancier dresses, but she loves how "pretty" it looks so she'll wear
it while she's tidying up the treehouse or working at the food stand.

It's Story Thursday:
Lara
Larson was in town square because she was working at the food stand, when the bright purple signs hanging on the general store
walls caught her eye.
"Hmm, I wonder what all that is about," she said, walking across the square to the General store
and pushing open the door. The bell tinkled and Felicity hopped to her feet, straightening her cap.
Lara looked
around, saw the happy jelly display, and immediately pulled out her purse to purchase two jars of strawberry jelly.
"Can
I interest you in anything else?" Said Felicity, hopefully, looking resentfully over at the dwindling pile of jellly
jars. "Oh no, this is enough for now," said Lara, "I'll be back later for the animal's feed though."
And with that,
Lara left the store and headed back up the grassy slope from the market to her farm. Britta was inside, coloring in
her coloring book and muttering under her breath about how nobody at her birthday had cared that she wanted fashionable dresses
as presents. They'd all just bought her candy.
"Look Britta, strawberry jelly!" Lara said, holding the
little jars up. "Oh wow mommy!" Britta said, looking up from her coloring book, her expression changing completely.
"That will be perfect for when Rachel comes over today. I will have to find some bread to spread it on. Mommy,
make some bread!"
Lara frowned. "Shouldn't you say please?"
"What?" Answered Britta, vaguely, because
she was already halfway up the little ladder to her loft, carrying the strawberry jelly with her as she went.
"Oh never
mind," said Lara, and she left the house to go make a batch of bread for Britta's tea party with Rachel.
Later that
afternoon.........
The doorbell rang and Britta jumped to her feet, knocked her chair over, flipped a spoon sitting
on the table out of the window and tripped over her untied shoelaces until she was sprawled on the floor. "It's Rachel!"
She whispered to herself, excitedly, quickly running to the fireplace and dumping the fresh bread on so that it would be nice
and warm when Rachel sat down to tea. Then Britta hastened to answer the door.
"Hi darling Rachel!" Britta
said, breathlessly, opening the door. "Why hello little Britta," Rachel said, daintily walking right past her into the
little kitchen. "And how are you this fine afternoon?" "I dunno, ok I guess. Can I take your coat?" Britta
said in a squeek, almost forgetting this important part of the polite doorside conversation that Miss Samantha had taught
them. "Britta, I don't have a coat on today, it is such a fine afternoon." Rachel said, condescendingly. Britta
stared, as she realized that Rachel was right. She didn't have a coat. "Ok whatever." She said.
The
two of them settled down at the kitchen table, which Britta had decorated with every piece of silverware and linen that the
Larson family owned. Britta thought it looked beautiful, but Rachel said, "ugh!"
"What?" Said Britta, slightly hurt.
"What is that awful
smell?" Rachel said, pinching her dainty little nose and looking around the house. "Is something burning?"
Britta
wheeled around and knocked her chair over in the process. The bread that she'd put on the fire to warm up was burning
and blackened. "Oh NOO!" Britta cried, running to the fire and trying to take the burning bread out of the fire.
Finally, she just found a bucket of water and dumped it all on the fireplace. The bread looked black, soggy and smoking.
"Well,
I guess we don't have any bread left!" Said Britta, picking up her chair and sitting down at the table. "Let me
offer you some strawberry soup." And she unscrewed the top of one of the little jelly jars and spooned a glop of
jelly onto Rachel's plate and handed her a spoon.
Rachel looked at the glop of strawberry jelly on her plate.
"Am I supposed to eat this?" She said, slightly worried.
"Oh yes! Didn't you know that it is the latest
fashion to eat strawberry soup? Or whatever? OK whatever just eat it." Said Britta.
And so Nan's
jelly was also used to rescue tea parties. To be continued.....

Story Thursday: Teresa
Berg was skipping lightly past the community bulletin board in town square when a flyer posted there caught her eye.
It was a very unusal flyer. It was completely purple, covered in bright pictures of strawberries with eyes and kitty
ears, and random musical notes in patterns all around the edges. Teresa stopped skipping and walked closer to the poster
so she could see it better. It proclaimed, in large, bright words: "BUY STRAWBERRY JELLY." Underneath that was
a large signature, which had a duck quacking as part of the cursive. It was Nancy Merriman's signature.
Teresa
giggled. She looked again at the strawberry that had ears and eyes and whiskers just like a little kitty. She
giggled again. And then she turned around and towards the Merriman's general store instead of the sweet shop, where
she had been heading. She pushed open the front door and the bell tinkled. She saw at once that Nan was not at the
General Store. Instead, Felicity was running the counter and busily re-arranging the soap display so that the expensive
lavendar face soap was closest to the laundry and household display. She wanted to force Francisca Montoya to abandon
reason and purchase some when she came down for laundry soap later today.
Teresa looked casually around, and politely sounded interested when Felicity
tried to sell her the lavendar soap that she was now stacking in a neat little pile with real sprigs of lavendar balanced
here and there to add to the visual display. She then meandered over towards the jelly jars in the far corner, which
were under a similar bright purple sign with drawings of strawberry kitties. She grabbed up one of the cute little jars
of jellies and brought it to the counter. "Thank you very much, I don't think I will be getting the soap today because
I already have so much, but I would really like to buy this jar of strawberry jelly." Teresa said, showing Felicity
the jar.
Felicity gave her an extremely sceptical look, her eyebrows dissappearing into her hair. "Are you sure?"
She said.
"Oh yes!" Said Teresa, nodding her head vigorously and handing her the money. "I definitely want
to try this strawberry jelly today!"
Felicity's eyebrows carefully settled themselves back to their normal height as
she took the jar of jelly from Teresa and rang it up for her.
Then Teresa skipped out of the store and headed back
home, a brand new jar of Nan's strawberry jelly clutched in her hand.

It's Story
Thursday again! My my, how time does fly. :)
Nancy Merriman was very excited. She
had just put the cap on the top of a nice, clean jar of strawberry jelly, after cooking up the recipe herself, creating a
very tasty treat. She resisted the urge to stick her paw right back into the jelly to taste some of it, and fastened the
cap tightly on top of the jar.
She lovingly placed the finished jar of jelly on top of a pile of other filled strawberry
jelly jars, ready to be carried downtown to her father's general store for when she would start to sell her very own strawberry
jelly to her father's customers. After making sure that the balanced jar wouldn't fall off the pile, Nan dashed into the
music room, scribbled something down onto some manuscript paper, flipped up the lid of her spinet, and began to play some
very quick notes.
William, who had been napping under the spinet after a hard study session, woke with a start and
yelled "jolly what?! You just bally well ruined my sleep! What do you mean by this, old flesh-and-blood?"
Nancy
stuck her head around the edge of the spinet so she could see William, who was rubbing his head with two fingers and fighting
to uncross his sleepy eyes.
"This, little brother," Nan said, happily, "Is my symphony number 467, which is going to
be called 'Strawberry Jelly.' Isn't it magnificent?"
And she started to play little tinkling notes in the upper
part of the keyboard. "You see, this part is called "strawberries in a sunny field." William cocked his head at
her, slightly confused.
"That is only the first movement though. Here is the second movement," Nan said, moving
her hands down to the middle of the keyboard and pounding out some marching quarter notes, which kept making uneven rhythms.
"this is called, 'Nafy goes strawberry-picking.'"
Nan went on and on, until she got to the 17th movement, which was
called "putting the cap on," at which point she stopped. Completely oblivious to the fact that William had fallen asleep
again and was creating very odd sound effects by making the piano vibrate with his snores, she leapt out of her seat and ran
back into the kitchen.
"But what happens next?" She wondered aloud, grabbing up her little jar of strawberry
jelly. "That can't be the end of the story yet. Because somebuggy has to EAT my strawberry jelly, which means
somebuggy has to BUY my strawberry jelly, which means that I have to SELL my strawberry jelly. But how will anyone know
that I am selling jelly?" She sat down on a bucket and thought.
Mr. Merriman walked into the kitchen to pour
himself a cup of coffee and straighten his wig before heading back into his early morning government meeting. He noticed
Nan slumped on top of the bucket and inquired after what was the matter with her.
Nan just sighed.
Mr. Merriman
turned around and walked over to her so he could see her closer.
A little tear squeezed out of the corner of Nan's
eye as she looked at the little jar of jelly in her furry hand.
"Nan, what is the matter? Why are you crying
about your strawberry jelly? I thought it tasted very fine, indeed!" Mr. Merriman said, putting a comforting hand
on her back.
Nan sighed again and let out a frustrated noise. "YESH!" She said, suddenly looking up at
her father, "but how will anyone know to come and buy my jelly and actually eat it? I have to finish my symphony,
daddy!!"
Mr. Merriman relaxed. "Well, that is simple. You have to market your product! Which means"
he said, quickly, "that you need to advertise. No one will know that we have a new kind of jelly that you made especially
on your own unless you tell them!"
Nan sniffed and sat up straighter. That was what she should do! She
nodded at her father and then ran flat out up to her room, grabbing quills and different colored inks and all of her best
paper. The rest of the afternoon was devoted to creating posters. She made blue posters, she made red posters,
she made rainbow posters, and she even made a pink poster, just for Suzanne Wickon's house. Then, humming happily and with
a little jar of strawberry jelly tucked into her pocket, she went waltzing around town, nailing up her colorful posters, which
all announced the new addition of strawberry jelly to the Merriman's General Store.

Happy Cinco de Mayo, everybody!
Today is one of the Montoya family's favorite days to celebrate, so they are planning to hold their fiesta for the arrival
of Ana and Tomas at their rancho. On Cinco de Mayo, all of the girls spend a long time getting dressed up and looking their
prettiest, using flowers to decorate their hair. Then they always hold a beauty contest. Mrs. Montoya has won
it for the last five years because Andres was always the judge, but now that Tomas is here she just might lose her throne
to her daughter, Ana.
Anyway, today is triple tuesday, so I've got three
new things for you:
1) A new addition to the Britta and Teresa correspondence 2) A new addition to the Alexandra and Angelica correspondence 3) A brand new photo story about Ana and Tomas, called "The Arrival." You can see how the Montoya family reacted to having two new people
join their family.

It's story
Thursday:
Rebecca Montoya was extremely excited. She kept fidgeting around on her little straw
chair and craning her neck to watch her bigger sisters, Francisca and Ana. The two of them had hit it off right away
and were now singing together while they fixed dinner. Rebecca was fascinated by Ana. She was tall and beautiful,
and she liked the fashions! Mama never liked the fashions, she was too practical. But here was a grownup who liked
the fashions! Ana also had a beautiful red trunk full of treasures that she had brought with her from Mexico City.
The first night she was there, they had all sat around her and watched her take items out, one by one, and tell the story
behind it. Rebecca had been excited when Ana had taken out some packets of new seeds for garden plants, but not nearly
as excited as her and everyone else had been when Ana unfolded her glorious wedding dress and trailing vail. Rebecca
had never seen a dress so beautiful and fancy. And the pressed bouquet of flowers! They were both enough to make
Francisca almost faint, anyway.
Rebecca made her way noisily around the campfire that Francisca and Ana were cooking
over and walked across the river towards the deserted rancho. They were all living in the goat shed right now, so there
was no one in there. She was hoping to see if Ana's trunk was in there so she could look at the wedding dress again.
However, as she rounded the bend towards the dusty walls of the rancho, the strains of a flamenco guitar tune reached
her ears. She perked them up. Whoever was playing the guitaro was pretty good. It was definitely not Juan
or Antonio. She walked a little faster to find out. As she entered the deserted grand sala, she saw Ana's husband,
Tomas, seated in a corner of the room and practicing his guitar. He was so fast and so skilled at it that Rebecca's
mouth dropped wide open. She didn't know that Tomas was good at something! She thought that he was just a funny,
sort of goofy man who was married to her sister. Now a little bit shy, she walked into the room. Tomas stopped
playing and looked over at her. "Oh!" He said. "Now, I was wondering when you were going to come and say hello,"
he said, smiling a sort of crooked smile at her. "Hola," she said, sitting down in front of him. "I found this
doll lying around," Tomas said, taking out Rebecca's cloth doll and showing it to her. "I knew at once that it must
be you, because this doll is beautiful. And you are the only one around here who looks like her." Rebecca blushed.
No one had ever called her beautiful before. She knew she had sort of ratty hair and a squished-up face, but Tomas seemed
to think that she was beautiful! "Is this doll yours, Rebeccacita?" Tomas asked, handing the doll to her. "Si,"
she said, taking the doll and hugging it. "You are very good at the guitaro, Tomas," she said, looking up at him. "Oh
si I am." He said. He wasn't really boasting, it was as if he had been told this many times. "But it is
always lovely to hear a compliment from someone like you. Did you know that you are a very kind person?" Rebecca
squirmed. She was very, very happy right now. "Let me tell you something. Do you know the difference between
a guitar and tuna fish?" Rebecca laughed loudly. "NO!! What?!" "You can tuna guitar, but you can't
tuna fish!" He answered, "HA HA HA!" he chortled, hitting his leg and leaning forward and backward while he let little
booming laughs out. Rebecca was laughing very hard. Tomas was really funny, too. She thought that she was going
to like having Ana and Tomas around.
Check back in the next few days for more news and stories about Pleasantville's
brand new residents. :)

April 24th, 2009
As usually happens around this time of year, change has once again come to Pleasantville.
Dolores and Francisca Montoya returned from Mexico City yesterday with two extra people in tow, Francisca's older sister
Ana and her husband Tomas. The couple had been living in Mexico City but completely ran out of money and simply wanted to live with their families
and be reunited with their two little boys, Antonio and Juan. So they came along with Dolores and Francisca, and are now
settled in with the family of eleven, who are all currently living in the goat shed because they are rebuilding their walls. It is a very tight fit to keep eleven people
in such a tiny building, but somehow they are pulling it off. They all have to take turns sleeping and cooking though.
Francisca especially was fascinated to have her older sister back
among them, and spent hours with her, going through Ana's painted red hope chest and looking at her most precious things.
She ooohed over her wedding bouquet, aaahed over her wedding veil, and practically fainted when she saw her long, trailing
wedding dress. She was also incredibly interested in Ana's book of face washes, perfumes and moisturizer recipes.
Tomas, on the other hand, came trundling into the rancho joking and
laughing and ruffling up (what's left of) his son's hair. He pulled out his own book for the little girls to look at, and
soon had all the younger children and Andres roaring with laughter with his "libro de broma," book of jokes.
Today the Montoyas plan to show their new family members around the
town of Pleasantville, and to start planning the fiesta that Dolores wishes to throw in Ana's honor.
If you'd like to discuss this big news, you can head on over to our
message boards and either create an account, post as a guest, or just read the lively discussions that are going on.
Here's also my chance to wish Solana a
happy belated birthday. She had a great day yesterday and was very patient to wait through rehearsals and lessons and everything
before we all got to have her beautiful cake and open her presents. She told me though that the end result was well worth
the wait.
April 22nd, 2009
Happy Earth day! Do something
today to help out this planet that we all live on. Plant some flowers or trees. Start a recycling program in your home.
Turn off all your lights when you aren't using them. Dress your dolls in green and take them outside for a while!
I
also have a new doll dress for you today. Well... actually it's a doll kilt. This is Anders Larson's McLaughlin clan tartan kilt that his wife made him for Christmas this year. Have a look.

Here is the next
installment of the trio's adventures in the Netherlands. The funny story on this one is that Willow actually wrote it
while we were on an airplane to Philadelphia. Haha!
“Finally!”
Cristal exclaimed, sitting up in her seat on the airplane and craning her neck to see down the aisle. Sonja and Suzanne were both asleep; Sonja with her head leaning against the window, and Suzanne leaning
against Cristal’s shoulder. “Wake up, dahlings!” Cristal said, shaking the other two out of their peaceful slumber, “they are going to serve us some
fine cuisine!”
Suzanne sat up immediately and looked around her, all trace of sleepiness gone. “Fine cuisine? Where?” She said brightly. Cristal pointed down the aisle to where a stewardess was pushing a cart of food and
drinks. Across the aisle from them, the two girls who spoke a different language
had put down the food trays in front of them. Suzanne nudged Cristal and nodded
her head towards them. “I think these little trays are our own personal
tables so that we can be waited on hand and foot.” She whispered, putting
her tray down. Cristal copied her and looked over at Sonja, who was taking a
little bit more time to become aware of her surroundings than Suzanne.
“Where are we, Cristal dahling? A yacht?” She said, a confused expression on her face.
“Why are we floating up and down and what is that dreadful racket?”
She frowned as she said the last bit, and put her little hands over her ears.
“We are on an airplane, remember little dahling? That
awful racket is the airplane engine. I do wish they would just turn it off, it
is hurting my ears, too.” Cristal answered her.
“Oh I remember now, we’re on our way to the Netherlands, tra la!” Sonja trilled, trying to fix up her curls, which were all matted together on one side.
By this time, the stewardess and the food cart were in the row in front of them. “What do you think we should order to eat, Suzanne?” Sonja asked.
“Well,” Suzanne said, thinking carefully. “Nothing
too heavy. I wouldn’t want to feel sick after having not eaten since breakfast. Perhaps a well done fillet mignon, a sampler of fine bleu cheeses, an Italian red
wine, and chicken Caesar salad with croutons and parmesan. What do you think?”
“Quite, dahling. That should be enough. I’m sure they will come back around to take orders for dessert, so we’ll think about that later
while we are eating dinner. “
“Hello ladies, what can I get for you to eat today?”
The stewardess said brightly, pulling her cart backwards into line with their row. “We
have beef casserole, pizza, and hamburgers.”
The three of them looked incredulously at each other and then back at the stewardess. “That’s ..all…. you have?” Suzanne
said, her voice shaking a little.
“Yes ma’am,” the stewardess replied, looking bemused.
Cristal sat back in her seat and stared at the roof of the plane,
wishing this was a nightmare and that she was going to be woken up in a moment to the smell of chocolate donuts from Clara’s
Sweet Shop. Her stomach grumbled very audibly, and she frowned at it. Sonja was the first one to speak up. “I shall have the
beef casserole,” she said in her most dignified voice, glaring at the stewardess.
Cristal sighed and ordered the beef casserole as well. They both looked
at Suzanne, who stuck her nose in the air before saying, “I shall have the pizza.
At least it is Italian!”
“Alrighty,” the stewardess said, handing the food over to them and giving them napkins
and plastic utensils as well. “That’ll be $10.00 each please.”
“WHAT!!!” They all screeched in unison. “That is absolutely ridiculous,” Cristal said, icily. “I shall not pay $10.00 for rubbish like this.” Her
stomach grumbled again, louder this time. “Dahlings, we don’t have
anything else to eat,” Sonja said unhappily. “Perhaps we ought to
try and eat something, even if it is horrible.” They all sighed resignedly
and handed over their ten dollar bills.
The three of them were silent and grumpy as they slowly tried to force down their food. Occasionally Cristal started muttering words like “rubbish,” and “ten dollars,”
under her breath until the person in the row in front of them turned all the way around and said “shush!” Rather angrily. Suzanne sat there staring
at her pizza while the other two worked their way through their beef casseroles. She
was just about to take her first bite of the pizza after fighting a long internal battle between her incessant hunger and
her disgust at eating fast food, when the airplane began to shake back and forth and the pilot’s voice came crackling
through the speakers.
We are sorry, but we are experiencing a slight bit of
turbulence. For your safety, please ensure that you stay in your seat and that
your seat belts are securely fastened. Thank you.
“AAAH!” Suzanne looked down at the floor. All the sudden bumping around of the airplane had caused her slice of pizza to fall
down right on top of her dainty little fashionable shoe. “How DARE they
allow all that bumping around! I PAID TEN DOLLARS FOR THAT PIZZA!!” She
shrieked.
People in rows all around her turned around and stared very pointedly at Suzanne. She sank low down into her seat and fumed. “I despise airplanes.” She declared haughtily. Cristal nodded in agreement.
Sonja, however, was writing a letter to Teresa in which she gushed about the exquisite food on the
airplane and the luxurious lounges they were sitting on. She smiled conspiratorially
and began writing another letter to Rachel as well.
Soon Sonja tired of elaborating her experiences to her
friends back home and peered out the window. “Look dahlings, aren’t
those pretty clouds?” She said, pointing out the window. Cristal and Suzanne, who were both still in a very sullen mood, glanced half-heartedly out the window. “Hmm.. I suppose.” Cristal replied, without much enthusiasm.
Her mood changed abruptly, however, when the pilot’s voice sounded through the speakers once
again, but this time with some very welcome news.
Ladies and gentleman, we are beginning our descent into
the International Airport of Holland. Please return your seats and tray tables
to their upright position and fasten your seatbelts. Flight attendants prepare
for landing.
Cristal, Suzanne, and Sonja all squealed with delight and hopped up and down in their seats. “We’re almost there! We’re about to land!
We survived!”
Cristal was much more excited about looking out of Sonja’s window now, as they all jostled each
other over to try and catch the first glimpse of the Netherlands.
The airplane lowered slowly through the clouds, and Holland came into view, all covered in sparkling
white snow. “Good thing we brought our winter coats, isn’t it?” Sonja giggled, excitedly.
The runway grew closer and closer, and Cristal’s eyes grew wide with worry. “What if we crash! Dahlings!! I don’t have a Will! Who would inherit my fortune? I have
not left my affairs in order!”
Just then the airplane hit the runway with a large BUMP. “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!” Cristal screamed, her eyes squeezed shut and her hands covering her face.
“….Em.. dahling, you can look now,” Suzanne
said, prying Cristal’s hands away from her face. “It’s alright,
we landed safely.” Cristal opened one eye, and then the other. “Oh. Well. Of course I knew we would land safely.” She
said, matter-of-factly. Suzanne and Sonja exchanged a withering glance. “Yes, of course you did,” said Suzanne.
The three of them were the last people out of the airplane, as Suzanne needed some space to wrench
her large carry-on bag out from under the seat in front of her. As they left,
the foreign girls from the row next to them said "Bedank goedheid die over is. Ik wil nooit naast die vervelende dames
opnieuw zitten!"
Suzanne was going to complain to the stewardess when they exited the plane, but for some reason she
was nowhere to be seen…
When they emerged into the airport, Cristal turned to Suzanne.
“I’m not completely sure what to do next. Where are our bags?”
Suzanne sniffed. “Isn’t it rude that all the signs are in Dutch? I mean, shouldn’t they know that not everyone likes speaking Dutch? It seems awfully conceited if you know what I’m saying.”
They followed the flow of people in front of them that had exited their airplane, all the while discussing how difficult
it was to find one’s way around a foreign airport. When they stopped for
a moment to rest, Sonja gave a shout. “That’s my suitcase! The pink one with the roses on it!” She was pointing
to a bag a few feet away from them that was slowly moving around on a baggage claim conveyor belt. They hurried over to the bag, and Sonja snatched it off the conveyor belt at once, hugging it tightly. “Someone thought they were going to get away with stealing my beautiful suitcase
did they? How completely horrible!”
Just then, Cristal pointed back to the conveyor belt. ‘”There’s
my suitcase! The white one with the pearls on it.
And there’s Suzanne’s bag! And Suzanne’s suitcase, and
Suzanne’s five hat boxes! We must snatch them back!” They did just that, looking around them all the while to make sure that whoever stole their luggage wouldn’t
try and steal it again while they weren’t looking.
When they had counted their bags multiple times and were sure that none of them were missing, they
headed off with Cristal as the leader, going towards what she thought must be the exit.
“Wait dahling!” Suzanne called. She had stopped
and put all of her hat boxes down, and was staring at a shoe-shining station. “I
must get my shoe cleaned, it has that dratted pizza all over it, ugh. I can NOT
be seen walking around the Netherlands with pizza on my shoe. That is so vulgar!”
“Alright, go ahead,” Cristal called back. “Yoohoo!” She called to an airport worker. “What
is the fanciest hotel in all of Holland?”
He gave it a minute of thought before replying, “that would be Hotel De Dutch, ma’am.”
“Oooh that sounds right. Perfect, actually,” she said with a satisfied smile. “You can find a taxi outside the revolving doors,” he said, pointing towards them. She thanked him graciously, and returned to Suzanne and Sonja, who were examining Suzanne’s clean
and shining shoe. “I found out that the most fashionable hotel in the Netherlands
is called ‘Hotel de Dutch,’ so we must stay there.” Cristal
told her friends.
When they arrived at the revolving glass doors, Sonja stopped short, looking
quite terrified. “Don’t worry dahling, they’re harmless. Really.” Suzanne said, in an off-hand
sort of way. With her nose in the air, she walked through the door, and pushed
it around with her many hat boxes in front of her. The trouble was, she didn’t
notice that she had already passed the outside exit, and was continuing back to where she started. She must have been quite preoccupied, because she kept striding around in circles, her nose in the air
and her hat boxes pushing the doors around faster and faster until she was a
blur and a large line of people had lined up behind Sonja and Cristal to exit the airport, tapping their feet and looking
at their watches impatiently.
Finally, Suzanne whirled out of the exit in a tumble of boxes and bags. A few people nearby glanced at her with eyebrows raised, and muttered "toerist..."
to each other.
Suzanne immediately recovered her composure and her haughty expression as
well, and tried to ignore Cristal and Sonja’s quiet giggles as they made it through the revolving doors and to her side.
“I found all the taxis.”
Suzanne sniffed, not meeting their eyes. Sure enough, a line of taxi drivers
was waiting by the curb, all of them laughing openly. Cristal and Sonja did not
comment, fortunately, and Suzanne marched over to the nearest taxi driver. “We
would like to be taken to the Hotel De Dutch if you please.” He nodded
and reached for her bags. “That will be $100, ma’am.” He said, opening the trunk of his taxi. Cristal
and Sonja glanced at each other incredulously. “A hundred dollars?” Cristal hissed, under her breath. The taxi driver smiled encouragingly. “I’ll
give you a deal,” he said, “only ninety dollars for you are such nice ladies.” Suzanne, smiled and shook his hand. “Thank you. Now please let’s be on our way. I
have had far too much of the airport today!” Suzanne said, glaring at the
other taxi drivers who were still looking very amused.
However, one of them looked quite furious, and came striding over towards
them as they were about to sit down in the taxi. He began speaking rapidly in
Dutch to their taxi driver, who spoke angrily back to him. After they had been
arguing for a few minutes, the angry man turned to Suzanne, who looked quite frightened.
“I am sorry ma’am, but this driver is cheating you into paying more than twice the usual amount for a ride
to the Hotel de Dutch. I can take you there for thirty dollars.”
Cristal jumped out of the taxi, pulling Sonja along with her. Suzanne followed suit, and they grabbed their bags from the trunk.
“My name is Pardon, at your service,” the man said with a bow. The
other taxi driver glared at him and shook his fist. He got back in his taxi and
zoomed away. Sonja let out a sigh of relief and sat down on a hat box.
Once in Pardon’s taxi, they relaxed a little and began exclaiming at
everything visible outside the windows. “Ooooh, look at the building!” Sonja said, pointing up at a stone building many stories high. “Never mind about the building,” Suzanne answered, “look at that dress!” She exclaimed, pointing at a lady walking down the street. “How
fashionable we shall all look when we leave the Netherlands,” sighed Cristal dreamily.
Sooner than they expected, Pardon pulled up to the porte-cochere of a very
fancy looking hotel. “This is it, ma’am,” he said, removing
their bags from his trunk. “If you are in need of a driver during your
stay here, please give me a call. Here is my card.” He handed them a business card, and, after receiving their effusive thanks, he drove off and left them
in front of the extremely elegant Hotel de Dutch.
To Be Continued!
April 5th, 2009
The smell of coffee brewing
and bacon sizzling in the kitchens woke Teresa Berg up in the early morning. She crept out of bed, shrugged into her
silk dressing gown, and slowly padded down the creaky staircase to the dining room. No one else was awake yet, except the
servants in the kitchen, and she was determined to see the sun rise. She always slept in so she ended up waking up when
the sun was already up in the sky, but today she was going to see it come up in the East. She had decided that she really
wanted to.
So Teresa slipped out the front door, listening carefully to make sure that none of the maids noticed her,
and silently made her way down the street, smelling the wet dirt in the flower beds and the faint scent of the flowers that
were just starting to pop up. Crocuses and daffodils first, then the beginnings of rose buds. She skipped a little,
but stopped. It was still pretty dark and she didn't want to trip over anything!
When she reached town square,
she was surprised to see it so deserted. She had never seen it so quiet! All of the shop owners were sleeping
or eating breakfast at their houses, and none of them had even gotten to work yet. She smiled to herself, proudly remembering
how early she had gotten up this morning.
She walked across the square, past the food stand, and right into the Larson's
fields where she was certain she would be able to see the sunrise. She plunked herself down on a little log and stared
directly into the East. She was sleepy, but she blinked her little eyes and focused. She wasn't going to fall
asleep and miss the sunrise after all of this work!
Slowly, the woods and the fields around her started to wake up.
The birds started chirping even before the first rays of golden sunlight started to pop up over the edge of the Earth.
They seemed to sense it before it came. A group of ducks waddled across the field toward the stream bank. Teresa
giggled at the funny way they walked. And then the light started pouring out over the fields, lighting up the dew drops
on the grass and leaves of the trees and making everything so stunningly bright and golden that Teresa had to cover her eyes
for a little while.
Then the animals all came alive. The birds chirped joyfully, the ducks swam happily
along the stream, and a bashful doe peeked out at Teresa from behind a little tree. She got up and did a little spin
around in the sunlight. "Jiminy!" She exclaimed, "that was better than they describe it in the novels! Everything
is so fresh- like it is all starting over again."
And she turned around to hurry home. As she hurried back through
town square, she saw sleepy people creeping toward their shops. Suzanna Wilson had her collar pulled up around her and
was slowly sipping some coffee while balancing piles of newspapers and stationary pads. Lisa DeVecamont was right behind
her, hurriedly straightening the clip in her perfect hair and carrying a smart briefcase. Laura Windmill was staggering
around, still wearing her pajamas and trying to find the keys to her shop in a bulging soccer bag at her side, and Paul Windmill
was just propping his skateboard up outside the Chinese restaurant before heading inside.
Teresa smiled. She
felt like she had a glowing little secret inside her that these busy people didn't know about. They had no idea how
wonderful this moment was. The sun had just risen! It had been glorious! Why didn't they notice how joyful
the whole world was right now? They were a little too busy, she supposed.
"Well I have just had a wonderful day,
and it hasn't even started yet." She told herself, making her way back up to the house on Lilac Avenue. "Maybe
I should wake up early more often."
I've added the voting page for the Photo of the Month contest for April. Head on over there to vote for the picture that YOU think describes the month of April.

Hahahaha April Fool's,
everybody! Our entire post yesterday about not being able to update the site anymore was an april fool's joke, which
fooled some of you (thanks for the extremely nice notes and email messages with best wishes) and didn't fool the others, (*ahem*
all you message board people who figured out the "service notice" link at the bottom of the page, lol!), and was, on the whole,
entirely successful!
If you missed yesterday's joke, you can read the post below to see what it was about. Basically,
I wiped the site blank for a little while and wrote a fake entry about needing to quit working on the website because of the
time and expense. ...NOT!
We are not intending to stop working on this site ANY TIME soon, it is really fun to
keep putting things up here, and we have so many huge ideas to enhance the site that it would be terrible to stop now. So
thanks for all of your support, and the site is now back up and running!
April 1st, 2009
Hello everyone, and happy April. I'm afraid I have some
bad news. Due to our ever-increasing schedule and the time it takes to be performers and musicians, we've decided that
a few things need to be cut down to make life a little easier. Unfortunately, OUR DOLLS takes a lot of time, effort and
money to run, and with the current economy it's hard on everyone, especially people running free websites like this one. Therefore,
we won't be able to update as frequently as before; in fact, it will be several months before we will be able to work on the
site again. Thanks for visiting ourdolls.net all these years. Sincerely, Greta, Willow and Solana

photo story for you today! This one is a fun little project we did of illustrating a Robert Louis Stevenson poem with
pictures of all the dolls in Pleasantville. It is a poem about how little children should act if they wish to become good,
rather than bad.
So here is Good and Bad Children, by Robert Louis Stevenson.
Happy Monday!

Thank you all for waiting
so patiently while I edited the site to announce the winner for the Cooking Photo Contest!
And, after months
of waiting and voting and viewing the amazing entries that we received, the winner IS:
Amy Wakefield!
Congratulations
to her. She received an overwhelming amount of votes in the first round, and just as much support in the second with
her great picture involving two dolls in a real kitchen. But the way the photo was taken made the dolls appear real
even without props or fancy constumes, which is what the contest is all about. She will receive a great prize from the
website with lots of great cooking supplies. Our runner up this time was Abbie. You can view Amy's winning picture
on the contests page, along with a page that shows ALL of our beautiful entries.

week or so)
The Windmill Family (Paul and Laura sharing a delicious lunch break)
Kaya's Page (Kaya's been very active lately, probably because the weather is finally
getting nice again.)
Also, there are only TWO DAYS left before the winner is announced for the Cooking Photo Contest. Don't forget to vote on your favorite picture out of the finalists.
Have fun!
March 25th, 2009
I just added another
video to our videos page. This one is a clip from a while ago when Suzanne and Cristal had their second dinner party at Suzanne's house.
Everything was going well until Suzanne mentioned something about "vegetable stew."

The Merrimans are
going through a massive remodel at their house right now, although they are making sure to keep at least one room looking
nice in case they get callers during the day. Meanwhile, William has been getting incredibly hungry because Mrs. Merriman
has been too busy with her spring cleaning to cook food for him lately. So finally, he took things into his own hands and
decided to just cook the food himself. And because of that, I bring you this new Merriman recipe, the instructions for Dressed Eggs.
I also added a few more pictures and instructions to the "Microphone" craft, since I accidentally published it before it was all finished. Woops! You can go and check it out now.
Enjoy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day,
everybody! Today is the day when everyone gets to be Irish, and Pleasantville is celebrating it well. Teresa woke
up early in the morning to prepare her Irish dance performance that she puts on every St. Patrick's Day for her cousins, Samantha
and Rebecca. She rearranged all the furniture in the green parlour and laid some shamrock decorations around the room.
Then she got Mr. Hawkins to help her hang a giant Irish flag over the back wall to use as a backdrop to her dance performance.
Climbing
the many steps to the top of the house, she retrieved her old dance dress out of the attic and practiced her jump 2 3s and
sevens to an old record of her uncle playing fiddle. When everyone had gathered in the parlour after breakfast, she turned
on the record and started to dance, hopping and gliding gracefully across the green carpet, keeping time to the music and
smiling a shy little smile at her audience. After showing them all her hop jig and her light jig, she brought out her Irish
doll and did a short story about the history of St. Patrick's Day to get her breath back, and then she started working on
her grand finale. "I am going to need some volunteers!" She said, pulling on the hands of Megan, Allison and Heather,
who were all hurriedly looking in different directions, as if they had all dropped something at the same time. "Come on,
it will be fun!" She insisted, and they finally gave up and got to their feet. They all put their heads together
for a while and then Teresa turned on the music. The maids stepped to their right at the same time, then stepped to
their left, keeping time. Teresa started the audience clapping, merrilly, then skipped out in front of the swaying line
of maids and did her best three reel steps with her hands in the air. When she was done, they all grabbed hands and took
a huge bow.
The audience burst into tumultuous (but very polite, of course) applause, and Samantha burst into tears
of pride at how beautiful it all was. Teresa beamed back at her.
May the luck of the Irish be with you, and I
hope you have an awesome day! Be sure to wear something green, or Nafy may just find you and pinch you. Hehehe!

Here is a new doll dress
for you. One of the most elegant dresses of the year, this is Cristal's ballgown that she made for the Masked Ball this
year.

Celine Windmill
likes throwing parties. Every once in a while she gets this crazy urge to entertain people at her house, and cook a
bunch of food, heat up the barbecue, and hold a sleepover for her kids. Luckily, this time she didn't need much of an
excuse, since it was her daughter, Laura's, birthday.
See the photo story right here, to see how Laura's party went! Enjoy!

It's March already, who
would have thought this year would go by so fast? I've added the March "photo of the month" page down on the left navigation, so you can go check out the new batch of March-themed pictures and vote for your favorite.
Nafy Merriman would also like to thank everyone who voted for the picture of her in the February contest, since she
ended up winning. You can view all of the winners on this page.
The Merrimans are currently in an upheaval inside their home, as Lily has taken on a large re-modeling project
which involves completely moving out, laying down new walls, floors, windows and curtains, getting rid of any furniture or
accessories that are not time-period accurate (a lot of the Merriman's things are more Edwardian, and therefore will be given
to the Parkingtons instead) and creating things that are more authentic in an effort to make her house the pride of the town
again. She started with the kitchen yesterday, stripping the carpet and putting up new walls, as well as installing a new
window and window seat, which doubles as William's new bed. The plan is to put in a brick floor for the kitchen, but
Lily's only problem is where to get the bricks!
Don't forget to vote for your favorite entries in the cooking photo contest. Happy Irish month!
February 28th, 2009
All the entries are

Injuries happen in
any kind of sport, and quite often in dance forms as well. You have to be careful and take care of your body when you
exercise so you don't hurt yourself.
We have an example of that in today's new remedy, which was photographed by Willow.
Twisted Ankle
Felicity Merriman is preparing for her role as Clara in the Nutcracker, when all of a sudden something goes terribly
wrong and she has to call Josefina in to save the day.
Remember- only 3 DAYS until the cooking photo contest deadline! Send them in!
February 23rd, 2009
As they sat in their gate at the airport, Cristal, Suzanne
and Sonja sat close together with their purses clutched under their arms, staring around at the people around them.
"Dahling, this is so very fashionable to be doing something
so adventurous, isn't it?" Sonja said to the other two.
"Well yes, naturally," Cristal said matter-of-factly.
"It was my idea!"
Suzanne frowned and glanced accusingly over at Cristal.
"No dahling, it was MY idea." The two of them began arguing back and forth about whose idea it was and Sonja sat
back with a sigh, deciding not to mention that it had actually been her idea.
Finally after they had been arguing for more than half an
hour, Suzanne and Cristal agreed that the idea was both of theirs, and began chatting about other things.
"Ooooo!" Cristal squeeled all of a sudden. "We're in
gate number F3! 'F' must stand for 'fashionable,' and the 3 stands for the three of us!!" They burst into giggles
and received annoyed looks from the people sitting around them.
"Twenty more minutes to go!" Suzanne said, glancing at
the clock.
"Um, dahlings, I'm quite hungry, aren't you?" Said Sonja,
her stomach grumbling slightly. The other two realized that they had not eaten any breakfast before they left
in the morning.
We will be boarding for the Netherlands in five minutes!
came a voice from the loud speaker.
"Quick, we must be the very first ones in line so we can sit
in the best seats!" Suzanne explained to Sonja and Cristal as the three of them gathered up their large, frilly bags
and made their way towards the walkway to the airplane. Cristal handed everyone their boarding passes and soon
enough they were walking onto the airplane. They sat down in the spacious seats at the very front and arranged their
skirts and feather boas around them. "This is lovely, isn't it?" Cristal said, reclining her seat all the way.
"If only I brought my cucumbers and facial masks, we could all have special treatments." The other two nodded in agreement.
All of a sudden, however, a small but very obnoxious voice
said from the aisle, "excuuuuuuse me, but you're in MY seat, and I want you to GET OUT." Looking over, they saw a very
short, round-faced boy with huge glasses and a designer suit on. He stood there looking at Suzanne with his
arms crossed and a smirk on his face. "Look, it says on my ticket that I'm in seat number 1A. That means you need
to MOVE. And you both need to move too," he said, pointing at Cristal and Sonja. "It's my birthday party and all
of my friends are coming with me."
Suzanne could not believe that this pompous little boy was
telling her to move to another seat. "Now see here you little.." but she never got around to finishing
that sentence because that's when she saw the humongous man in a jet black suit and dark glasses come to stand behind
the boy with his arms crossed in a menacing fashion.
"Ooh, ahhhehehehe," Suzanne said reaching for her bags and
purse and hopping up off the seat, "why I was only.. ah.. testing the seat, of course.. ah.. because I wanted to make sure
it was suitable for someone like you. Yes, I'll just.. ah.. move now, shall I?" She said edging past the boy and
scurrying down the isle as fast as possible. Sonja and Cristal were right behind her. "Perhaps I should take a
look at our boarding passes," Cristal commented, getting them out of her purse. "Oh drat." She said, holding them
out. "We're in seats 25 D, E, and F."
Scowling, the three of them tried to fit their large
bags under the small seats at the very back of the airplane. "It won't... ooph.. fit!" Suzanne gasped, after trying
to fit her bag under the seat in front of her five different ways. "Just cover it with your hat. No one will notice,
dahling." Sonja said, reaching into her pink travel bag and getting out her best floral stationery. "I'm going
to write a letter to Rachel and tell her how wonderful it is on an airplane!"
Two girls sat down in the seats across from the trio and began jabbering away in a different language.
"Ik ben zo gelukkig terug te gaan!" One of them said to the other.
"Mij ook, is het weill mooi goed voedsel opnieuw te hebben," the other replied, nodding vigorously.
Cristal glared at them and turned to Suzanne. "That is so rude to speak in a language we can't
understand," she hissed. "They could be saying anything about us at all and we would never know!" Suzanne nodded
and glared at them as well.
"Die dames zijn heel eigenaardige kijken." One of the girls said.
The other burst into giggles and replied, "zij heeft een lange neus!" They both looked over at Suzanne and Cristal, who stuck
their noses up in the air and pretended not to notice.
Just then, a stewardess came by checking all the baggage.
"Excuse me ma'am, but your bag is too large to fit under the seat in front of you. Would you like
me to have it checked?"
Suzanne leaned over so that she was blocking the stewardess's view of the bag. "Whaaaat?"
She said, innocently.
"Your bag, ma'am," the stewardess said slowly and patiently. "It is too large."
"Oh, hahahehehe no. No it isn't. It is perfect." Suzanne said, trying to look convincing.
This did not, however, convince the stewardess. "Ahem. I'm sorry ma'am, but I will have
to check your bag."
"But it has all my things that I neeeeed in it!" She complained, handing it to Cristal, who reluctantly
passed it to the stewardess.
Meanwhile, Sonja was half way through a letter to Rachel, in which she was describing how
elegant and friendly the people on the airplane were, how comfortable the seats felt, and how the catering was absolutely
divine. Her stomach gave a very audible growl as she wrote the last part.
Pretty soon all the seats were full, and the sound of the engine started up.
"We're moving dahlings!!" Sonja squeaked, excitedly. Since they were in the very back row they did not have a window but they could feel the airplane bumping along.
"Do you think we're almost there?" Said Suzanne anxiously after five minutes had gone by, "my
feet are starting to feel cramped."
"Probably pretty soon, dahling." Cristal assured her. She was feeling a little cramped too,
not to mention very hungry.
Thank you for flying on Pleasant Airlines.
Came the voice of the
pilot through the speakers.
"Oh lovely," said Suzanne,
"we have arrived!"
We will be taking
off in about five minutes. Please make sure that your cell phones are turned off, your seat belts are fastened,
and your bags are stowed safely underneath the seat in front of you.
"Whaaaat!" Shrieked
Cristal and Suzanne, (Sonja was busy writing her letter.) "We haven't left yet?!"
The flight will
take approximately nine hours and thirty-five minutes. Please make yourself comfortable. Hot meals will
be served once we are in the air for an extra fee of five dollars. Thank you.
Right on cue, Cristal,
Suzanne and Sonja's stomachs grumbled in unison. This was going to be a looong day.
Coming Soon- The trio arrives
in the Netherlands!

Happy Valentine's
Day everybody! The dolls of Pleasantville are all celebrating the holiday by gathering at the Parkington's highly decorated
mansion for a Valentine's themed sewing circle. All of the little girls are invited as well, and Teresa is planning
to run some fun games for them to play, such as charades and a treasure hunt.
The Parkingtons spent the whole day preparing for the sewing circle,
sewing new tablecloths and cutting out paper hearts to hang everywhere. The maids were just as busy putting up decorations
in the dining room and preparing tasty sweets and snacks for the guests.
Stay tuned for pictures when I get them all
together. Have a great day today and show someone that you love them!

I am
very pleased to announce the newest feature of the ourdolls.net website. After a lot of brainstorming and researching and
fiddling around with things, we now present to you:
NafyCast - the official podcast of the ourdolls.net website.
A "podcast" is a pre-recorded radio show, complete with news,
hosts, special segments and more, which can be subscribed to for free through a feed on iTunes and which will then be updated
every time a new episode is posted. The word podcast is a combination of "iPod" and "broadcast," since it is a radio show
that you can download for free to listen to on your portable iPod or mp3 player. And if you don't have either of those, you
can always listen to it straight from your computer.
All you have to do is click "subscribe," and the new episode will
be added to your iTunes library every time we post a new episode.
The first episode is over 50 minutes in length, and
features all kinds of fun and exciting discussion segments, news talk (we talk a little bit out news in the doll world outside
of Pleasantville as well) and answers to some email questions we have received in the last few months.
Please let us
know what you think about our new podcast and send all your questions and comments to nafycast@hotmail.com.

Sonja, Cristal and
Suzanne arrived at the airport feeling gleeful and excited, having escaped John miles back and facing a wonderful trip to
an exotic location.
They parked the convertible and looked around for the servants that would take their bags and escort
them to their private jet. No one was there, and Suzanne's pile of luggage was starting to get some strange looks from
the people walking by.
Cristal approached the ticket counter and had their boarding passes printed out. Then
she asked the clerk where they should put their bags.
"You will have to go through security first ma'am," the clerk
entered, indicating the long security line behind her. "And there will be a $15 charge per check bag."
"Whaaaat?!"
Squeeled Suzanne, looking at her mound of luggage and nearly fainting. "But why can't I carry this all on with me, it's
a private jet, correct?"
"Um, actually darling," Cristal said in a low voice, "apparantly the ticket price I thought
was so good was not for a private jet. We have to fly on a plane with. other. people."
Suzanne's eyes popped
and she became suddenly angry. How much would all her bags cost her?
"That will be $75.00," the clerk said, heaving
Suzanne's bags onto the moving belt behind the counter and panting slightly. Suzanne bit back her criticism and paid
up.
The three of them wandered around the airport for a while before finally boarding their plane. This was going
to be the adventure of a lifetime and they weren't going to let small, insignificant money troubles hamper their enjoyment
of how fashionable they were being.
Stay tuned to see how the trio does on their trip to the Netherlands in pursuit
of the latest fashions!
Also, remember, we only have 19 days until the cooking photo contest entries are due. I've received some very cute pictures so far. I can't wait to see the rest! Send it to
me at ourdolls@hotmail.com for your chance to win a doll-sized, cooking-related prize!

The fashionable trio
have left for the Netherlands. When word got out (throught Suzanna's new fashionable lady's magazine, the Pleasantville
Lady) that everything fashionable for this Spring had gone Dutch, an idea instantly formed in Cristal Purr's head.
"Darling,"
she said to her best friend Suzanne Wickon, "I really need a vacation. Maybe we should fly somewhere exotic, like Paris."
"OOh
yes!" Suzanne crowed, excited to get away from her messy house and from John, who was still randomly throwing furniture
around the house ever since she quit her job at the Fox Mansion to become a singing instructor.
"But darlings," Sonja
interrupted, a gleam growing in her eyes, "let's go to the Netherlands! Everything has gone Dutch! And we can
be there to see it while it happens! Maybe we can get some dresses made for us in the latest Dutch fashions while we
are there!!"
After that it was hard to distinguish any kind of conversation because the squeels and screams and giggles
of delight were too shrill.
The three of them called the airlines, booked their tickets, and proceeded to pack their
things. Cristal and Sonja both packed a trunk of their finest fashions, a hat box, and a handbag each. They finished
packing and settled down to have a final cup of tea.
While they were sipping their India Spice Chai, they heard some
huffing and banging from Suzanne's house next door.
"Oh dear, what is John doing now?" Wondered Sonja, peering towards
the source of the noise. "John!" She yelled, haughtily, "stop making such a racket, we are trying to have tea here."
"I'm
not JOHN!" Said Suzanne's voice from next door, followed by another loud BANG.
"Darling, what are you doing?"
Inquired Cristal, daintily setting down her teacup and walking over to Suzanne's house to see what was going on.
"I
am packing, of course," Suzanne panted, lifting her potted plant out of a corner of the kitchen. "But darling you are packing...."
Cristal started, "My house, yes!" Suzanne answered, carefully wrapping up her teaset and a box of tea bags and placing
them on a pile of luggage nearly as tall as the ceiling.
"I will not leave ANY of my things here for John to throw
about while I am gone!" She reminded them, and instantly their looks of confusion turned into agreement, and they nodded
along with her, very seriously.
When everything was packed, the three of them headed off towards the Lincolnville airport
in Cristal's white convertable. John gave them a parting gift by chasing them at top speed out of town with his police
siren wailing, trying to catch them to give them a speeding ticket, but Cristal was too fast for him, and they soon lost him
along the miles of highway between Pleasantville and Lincolnville.
Stay tuned to see what happens as the trio explores
the Netherlands to see what is fashionable this season!

Over the holidays,
many of the fashionable ladies in Pleasantville either made new gowns for balls and parties, or received new dresses as Christmas
presents from their friends and family. This means that we now have several new doll dresses to add to the website.
Here is the first one:
Suzanne's "Belle" Gown This is the gown that Suzanne wore to this year's Masked Ball.
It is made to look like Belle's dress in "Beauty and the Beast."
Also,
I've added a new January Photo of the Month page, so you can head on over there and vote on your favorite picture. Stay tuned for information on the next Website
Photo Contest theme, as well as the January Website Treasure Hunt which will be up at noon on Saturday, Eastern Standard Time.
January 6th, 2008
I've just finished adding
pictures of our final dollhouse to the doll houses section. This is the Windmills' house, which is the oldest structure in Pleasantville, since we moved it from our old
house, almost entirely intact. It is the home of Laura, who runs the post office, as well as her mother, sister
and brother.
You can see the pictures here:
The Windmill's House
Also, stay tuned for a new website treasure hunt, Saturday January 10th at noon, Eastern Standard
Time, as well as information on the next Our Dolls Photo Contest.
January 1st, 2009
Happy New Year, everybody!
It has been a great year here on Our Dolls, as well as for all of the dolls in Pleasantville. So many great things happened
this year- Polly lost her annoying wig, there were balls and parties, (the Easter Ball and Masked Ball to name a few), Juan got coal in his shoes again from the three kings so he didn't get any chocolate, but Francisca
was happy because she has been worrying about it all year! Alexandra Chen opened up her Bamboo Terrace Chinese Restaurant in town square to great acclaim, and Cristal's Hair Salon became more and more successful than ever.
On this website, we added a new message board, which has become more active every week (if you haven't signed up to post on this board, head on over there and create an
account so you can talk to other Our Dolls members and doll fans!), plenty of new recipes, remedies and videos. We started holding the Our Dolls Photo Contests, and had great success with first the Lemonade Stand contest and then the Holiday Photo contest, as well as the regular Website Treasure Hunt contests.
Violet's Clothes Boutique opened as our exclusive doll clothes sales site, where you can buy some clothes for your dolls that look like the ones you
see in Pleasantville, and we added pictures of all the doll clothes we have made on the doll dresses page.
New also this year was the doll letters section, the doll jobs section, and the frappr map that you can put yourself on so we can see where the visitors to this site are from, all over the country and the world!
It
has been a great year, and I'm sure that 2009 will be even better. Thank you so much for visiting this site and contributing
on the message board and in the contests, as well as always sending me your thoughts in my email. I read all the comments
and appreciate all of your ideas and suggestions. You guys rock!!
Happy New Year from the three of us and all
the dolls of Pleasantville!
