Terror Strikes Home

For more than 5,000 Americans and a handful of international citizens, September 10, 2001 was their last full day on this earth. By now, we all know what happened the following day. Those who were in an unhappy relationship never got the chance to change their lives for the better. Terrorists who destroyed the Twin Towers and part of the Pentagon using people on hijacked airplanes took this precious opportunity away from them.
In addition to facing the wreckage in New York City and Washington D.C, we also face uncertainty about our present and our future. But the only thing we can do for now is continue our way of life in the best way we know how. Doing our best at our jobs, taking care of our families, and even taking care of ourselves.
Can we gain anything positive from the attack on our country? Possibly. It can make us examine what's good about the people we form relationships and life partnerships with, and what isn't so good. If you are thinking of marriage in the near future, do you have any nagging problems that could have a negative effect later? Get them out in the open NOW! Should they cause an end to the relationship, better now than after the wedding has taken place.
My own marriage ended after 11 years because I failed to address important issues and concerns before becoming engaged, let alone married. Don't make the same mistake. And more important, don't compromise or change your basic values to accommodate someone else. A loving relationship is made up of two people who accept each other's flaws and little quirks as well as their strengths. Anything less than that is a relationship no one should want a part of.
