Since the truth comes best from the source, I will leave Oroan of Blood Stained
Dusk to present himself through his answers...
QUESTION: BSD bio info?
Blood Stained Dusk began in its original form in 97.
In 99 "Thy Legions Reign Over Christendom" MCD was
released on Red Stream. Our latest recording "Dirge
Of Death's Silence" opened the darkest of realms for
us to tread upon. Dageth, Profana, and I have already
written the majority of the material for the next
release. This album will be more concept based
focusing on a number of apocalyptic themes. We bring
fourth the Coven of the Dying Sun to bring the final
sunset upon the earth with a suffering breed of
mortals left in darkness to be suffocated by the ashes
from a burning heaven.
QUESTION: What are the strengths, and weaknesses, of the Black
Metal scene?
I see Black Metal as a very strong perspective in
one since. That if the right people are doing it. I
see nothing but strength and honor in Black Metal.
There are a lot of people in the scene who seem to
like to question others about how "true" they are. As
long as you are true to yourself, you should have no
reason to try to lay down guidelines for Black Metal.
No matter what scene you are referring to, USBM or the
European scene, there are always bands that put their
true selves into the music. The ones that don't aren't
worth mentioning.
QUESTION: What is BSD's artistic philosophy?
Expression through our music is done for the need of
the music to survive in life. Expelling dark energy
from yourself and putting it into sound allows a
chaotic force to breed upon the sound you create.
Allowing the creative tendencies to flow comes with
setting a mood for playing dark, brutal music.
QUESTION: How would you describe BSD's sound?
We come fourth with the power of darkness.
Capturing a cold, atmospheric mood with the brutality
of the wars of the fall of humanity. The lyrics are
playing the storyline while the music brings the
thoughts brought fourth by the lyrics alive.
QUESTION: What unsigned band do you think deserves attention?
Mainly my war brethren from Alabama called From
Within. They are a death metal band that is about to
record their long-awaited demo (2 fucking years).
Many Hails!!! to them for keeping metal alive through
live shows. Any band that plays metal with no mercy
and pure honor for true individualistic reasons.
QUESTION: What are the differences between the American & Euro
Black Metal scenes?
It has become such a typical thing to be a Black
Metal band from Europe that anyone trying to do it
without totally original ideas is obsolete. The same
goes for the American scene because of what bands like
Mayhem, Emperor, and Burzum have done for the scene
combined as a whole. I agree with keeping the old
ways of Black Metal alive with applying elements of
totally original ideas to keep the music growing. The
European scene is more focused on trying new ideas and
putting new elements into their music instead of
keeping the original ideas of the music alive. The
USBM scene has bands like us that keep the original
ideas but still manage to progress forward with the
sound of our music and lyrical content.
QUESTION: What are BSD's influences (musical & non musical)?
My influences start in looking straight into the
night sky and feeling the presence of darkness in my
heart. They range from that to keeping our legion
strong through the study of our individual beliefs.
We all bring fourth ideas of the occult into BSD's
music. Themes from horror films and books may strike
an influential tendency but most of the lyrical
content comes straight from our own philosophies of
the world and the fall of the Christian plague. The
musical content ranges from influences from
Black/Death bands to elements of classical music.
QUESTION: What band/style is over hyped?
Bands that have no clarity in their music due to
lack of decent musicianship. More than anything, the
horrible excuse for metal in the mainstream of the US.
At metal gatherings that we have played in the US, I
continuously meet people who don't even know that an
underground metal scene exists.
QUESTION: What bands/CDs do you like?
As far as Black Metal goes, I get into bands like
Nokturnal Mortem "To the Gates..." and older Satyricon
"The Shadowthrone" for their culturistic backgrounds
and applying that to the overall sound of their music.
Setherial's "Hell Eternal" and Dark Funeral's
"Vobiscum Satanas" fall into my bang your fucking head
until you bleed category. I'm also really looking
forward to hearing the new Abigor. They continue to
have a progressive but different sound with every
album. Another band the has always played a role in
my expression of dark music is Black Sabbath.
QUESTION: Additions/Comments....
Hails!!! to all those who have supported us. A FUCK
YOU goes to all those who have talked endless amounts
of shit. Keep the Black Flame Burning!!!!!
