I purchased this 84 T/A 5.0 G. H.O. in 1985 with 12K mi on the Odometer. Since that time I have gone through the trials and tribulations of owning this particular Third Gen T/A muscle car. It is a blast to drive but the maintenance must be kept up meticulously. I put 285K on the original 305. I have since swapped engines for a J. Reman. Very happy with it! 5.5K on the new engine. I attribute the orig. engine life to synthetic oil. Had J. modify the cam a bit. I have modified the valvetrain /added a set of shorty style headers/billet distributor/chip/electric fuel pump to help prevent the vapor locking/4.11 rear./ hi per turbo 700R4 trans/Custom dual from the headers back including Custom H-pipe and dual converters/flowmaster/electrical system front to back/suspension. The car had a professional undercoating done from the first week it hit the streets by the original owner. This I must say has prevented 95% of the car from any rust/ that and a garage for the past 10 years. It was painted 12 years ago after the original paint just faded. [mid eights paint]. I opted not to put the decals back on due to myself wanting that sleek stylish sleeper kinda look. I did however opt for a new set of billet wheels due to the CENTER CAPS on the originals. I must say AR solved the problem and added a well deserved face lift. The interior is next and is coming along slowly. I must say this car now performs better than the day I bought it. Long live the T/A!!
