A web page's URL (Universal Resource Locator) extension provides clues that can help you identify the sponsor or source.

.org    Non-governmental and or professional organization 

.gov   Governmental pages

.com  Commercial or private, corporate, business website

.edu   Educational institution

Country names: uk (United Kingdom, mx (Mexico), ca Canada, br (Brazil) 

Personal web pages usually have the  tilde (~) in the URL and may include .com, .edu, .net, .gov, or .org.
