Happy Birthday, Daniel Jackson

Summary: SG-1 prepares a birthday party for Daniel Jackson to tell him just how special he really is.
Author’s Note: I wrote this story to show what an integral part of the Stargate series, Daniel Jackson really is. That without Daniel Jackson, there would be no Stargate as far as I’m concerned. Of all the characters on the show, Daniel Jackson was and always will be my favorite just like Iolaus was my favorite on the Hercules show.
CHAPTER 1
“Happy birthday Daniel! How does it feel to be 30!” asks Sam.
Daniel blushing with all this attention replies “The same as I was when I was just 29! Hey guys it wasn’t necessary for you guys to throw this party for me!”
General Hammond says “Don’t worry son..you are a special member of the SG-1 team and we couldn’t just NOT celebrate your birthday after all you are only 30 once! A toast to the birthday boy!”
Everyone raises their glasses and says “Cheers”
O’Neill takes the podium “ I just want to say how lucky we are at SG-1 to have Daniel on our team. He has saved our necks time and time again.”
Sam pipes in “That’s right sir..Daniel always comes in with all the translation..he speaks hundreds of languages that I don’t know..Daniel’s a sheer genius”
“He even speaks the dead languages too! I remember when we stepped through the Stargate. The natives surrounded us with spears. They were about to shoot us..when Daniel picked up on their dead language and greeted them in their language and told them we were just explorers..the chief was so astonished that they all dropped their spears and our necks were saved.”
“When Daniel had to leave us for a while, Jonus could never replace you, Daniel. There is only one Daniel and you are special. I’m just glad you are back with us.”
Daniel turns his head to his friends “Guys please..I contemplated retiring from SG-1 when my wife was killed by the Goauld but I just couldn’t turn my back on you guys and not knowing if you guys would be okay on future missions without me. Sure that Jonus is some sort of alien genius, but he just doesn’t have my knack with people..People skills is just something you can’t learn from a book! And I just darn missed you guys!”
General Hammond interjects “Daniel Jackson is the heart and soul of the whole Stargate operation. If it weren’t for Daniel, we would never have figured out how to use the Stargate in the first place. It was Daniel’s expertise in reading those hieroglyphics which enabled Sam and the rest of the team to activate the Stargate. Let’s all toast Daniel for his bravery, courage, skill and genius.”
Daniel is very shy of all this attention as he says “We are a team. I wasn’t the only one who knew hieroglyphics. Sam contributed. Mathews contributed everyone did. That’s what makes us special is that we all work together to solve problems.We don’t let petty problems and disagreements cloud our judgment of the situation. I am touched that you think I’m so special..but really I’m not.”
Sam shakes her head in disagreement “No, Daniel. You are way too modest. You are the only member of the team not trained in the military, yet you face the same dangers day after day that the rest of us faces every time we step through that Stargate to an unknown world. And each time you deliver. You speak the language. You get along with the native population. In a crisis, you have a cool head and you are able to figure out a way out of …” Sam gives Daniel a warm hug. “Happy 30th birthday Daniel and many many more! We hope you always stay with SG-1 and never retire!”
The representative from Abydos joins the party. “Daniel Jackson..former husband to Share, my daughter. I give you my warmest welcome. And I speak for the people of Abydos that you are truly a special man. You gave my daughter many years of happiness before she died at the hands of the Goauld. And you have taken very good care of her son. Shifu.My daughter loved you with all her heart. Though she gave her body to the Goauld, Daniel, she gave you her soul. I just want you to know that your son, Shifu is safe and sound in hiding.”
With tears in his eyes, Daniel gives the elderly man a warm embrace as he mentions “I loved Share with all my heart. When she died, it was as if a part of my soul died with her. But Share lives on in Shifu and as long as I live, I will make sure that the Goauld never get their filthy hands on him. Rest assured that I will do my utmost to keep Shifu safe.”
“The people of Abydos miss you Daniel Jackson. When will you come to visit us?”
“As soon as I can. Believe me, I miss my son too. I will stay with SG-1 to protect both Abydos and Earth from the Goauld. We might even someday find a way to destroy the Goauld. Who knows?”
“Daniel, my son. You are truly an extraordinary man. I reiterate my gratitude and wish you a happy 30th birthday!” The representative of Abydos raises his glass along with the rest of the SG-1 team.
Teal’c starts his speech “Daniel Jackson is truly remarkable. When I was Jaffa, I was the one responsible for choosing Share and having her taken by Apophus. Yet, Daniel Jackson has found it in his heart to forgive me. I owe him so much. Despite everything, he still extends to me his hand of friendship and for that love, I am grateful. For I did some awful things as a Jaffa to Apophus, yet Daniel Jackson has given me a second chance. To the remarkable heart of a remarkable man that is Daniel Jackson.”
O’Neill continues Teal’c speech “I must admit the first time I saw Daniel Jackson I thought he was a dork. I mean I just thought he was an awkward Academic who would just get in my way. In the beginning I remember Daniel sneezing all over me…and Daniel..your allergies were gross..for crying out loud..you had allergies of allergies. I didn’t think the man would survive his first trip through the Stargate. I thought of him as such a clumsy dork who tripped all over himself. But Daniel proved me wrong. As I mentioned before, Daniel has proved his worth over and over again and has saved not only my life, but also the lives of Earth so many times..I’ve lost count and like Sam says..he does all these wondrous things without military training. Daniel, you are truly a good friend.”
Daniel raises his glass to his friends and announces “To SG-1, the best project I have ever been involved with! To Sam the smartest scientist I have ever met..Next to me of course! Haha! To O’Neill..a smartass commander who knows what he is doing under fire and has saved my ass more times then I can count…To Teal’c..the best lance shooter of them all..I am grateful to you all for teaching me the meaning of friendship..I love being part of the Stargate project and intend to stay on for as many years as I am able”
With that Captain Hammond stands up from his chair and says in a commanding tone “Well boys and girls it has been a nice party..but now back to work..I am assigning you to investigate Balidius..the probe has brought back some interesting videos and Jackson I need you to translate..and the rest of you..see you at 0800 for the launch sequence..oh and Daniel..happy birthday!”
Everyone raises their glass one last time before leaving and exclaims happily all in unison “Happy birthday Daniel Jackson and may you have many many more.”

Due to overwhelming popular demand, Michael Shanks will be back to play the role of Daniel Jackson in the new upcoming 7th season of Stargate! Which really warms the cuckholds of this writer’s heart!
