Our first canoe ride this summer was actually in the springtime. Jim, Katie and I went down the Piscataquis River from the bridge in Abbot.
Katie jumped out of the canoe a few times when we got close to shore. Sometimes we would go in to shore a get her...
...and sometimes she would simply swim out to meet us.
Jim caught a couple of nice trout.
We stopped to eat lunch on the banks of a small stream that comes into the river.
This is where a beaver had started cutting a tree down but stopped for some reason. The sap has been running out of the tree for a while, I would say. Do you see what I see??......
