Welcome to Our Home Page

Welcome to the historic Victorian Era Skene Manor home page
on the World Wide Web. Overlooking the village of Whitehall,
the Champlain Canal and Lake Champlain, the  Skene Manor
invites area tourists to visit all of historic Whitehall, the
Birthplace of the United States Navy.

The historically elegant high Victorian gothic style castle is
easily visible from the waterway and land routes 4 and 22 at
their junction, and is now open giving free tours and serves
luncheon several days a week.

To visit the Skene Manor:
In New York take Interstate 87 to Whitehall-Fort Ann exit
(Route 149). Travel east on 149 and turn left (north) at the Fort
Ann mid-town signal where 149 joins Route 4. Stay on Route 4
to Whitehall, then follow red and white signs to the "Castle on
the Hill".

From Vermont, take Route 4 west from Rutland,
then follow the red and white "S.O.S." signs.
