Our policy at Sacred Winds is to screen all requests for a Wolf Dog prior
to agreement of sale of these unique animals. Unfortunately, many Wolf
Dogs end up in inexperienced hands.

Please answer these questions listed below. Do not be intimidated by the
questions; they are intended to inform you of what really goes into the
ownership of these magnificent animals. If you have any questions, please
e-mail us.

1. Why do you want a Wolf Dog?
2. What experience have you had with Wolves & Wolf Dogs?

Please try your best at answering the following questions. If you find that
you do not know the answer, attempt to discover the answer by conducting
your own research, either through other Wolf Dog periodicals or by
contacting experienced handlers of Wolves and Wolf Dogs.

a. If a fully grown (mature) Wolf or Wolf Dog desires the Alpha, or lead position
in your pack, what would you do? How would a Wolf or Wolf Dog show its challenge
towards you or its package (body language)?
b. What type of body position tells you that a Wolf or Wolf Dog is initiating play?
c. When a Wolf or Wolf Dog has its tail between its legs and ears flattened. What
type of behavior is being displayed?
d. When a Wolf or Wolf Dog has its tail raised above its body and its ears pressed
forward, what type of behavior is being displayed?
e. What type of diet and vaccination program does a Wolf or Wolf Dog require?
f. If a Wolf Dog began to "mouth" you, with their lips curled up , teeth bared
and ears flattened , what would you do?
g. When a Wolf or Wolf Dog approaches you and squats low to the ground and
urinates, what is this behavior indicative of?

3. Do you have small children? What ages? Are you aware of the fact that
Wolves, Wolf Dogs, or even domestic dogs should not be allowed around
small children, unless extremely close supervision is provided.? Wolves love
small children. They love them so much that in their excitement, they will jump
upon them and without intending to, injure them. If you have children, it is not
recommended that you bring them near your Wolf Dog, unless the Wolf is on a
leash and the child is at a safe distance from the animal. If you believe "your
sweet Wolf Dog could not hurt a child," then you should not have a Wolf Dog
as a companion. Obtain a nice docile, soft mouthed canine, such as a Golden
Retriever.

4. What kind of safe and humane containment can you provide? When allowed
to run loose, these animals can and will kill other dogs and cats, and livestock.
They are more powerful and cunning than domestic dogs, which are no match
for them. Remember, what they kill or damage is your responsibility. And since
a proven rabies vaccine is not currently available for Wolves and Wolf Dogs,
if your animal bites a humane or someone's livestock, your animal will be
destroyed and its brain analyzed for rabies, whether or not you have given
domestic dog rabies shots to you Wolf Dog.
