His is a widower living with his son ,John.  He states that his parents were born in Ireland.

Knox Boatyard, located on Virginia Street in Harmar, near Marietta, manufactured more than 120 steamboats between 1825 and 1907. The company was started by William Knox (1799-1887) and continued by his sons. In 1907, J.M. Hammitt bought the boatyard. It was destroyed by the Ohio River flood of 1913.

WILLIAM C. BENTINE   William C. Bentine, 83, of Murphy, NC died Saturday, October 25, 2003 at his residence. A native of Ashland, KY, but had lived in Lake Park, FL before moving to Cherokee County in 1987. He was a retired employee of Pratt and Whitney, and was a member of the St. William Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Juanita Knox Bentine; four sons, Charles Bentine and his wife, Nancy, Stephen Bentine and his wife, Sheila, David and Paul Bentine; and three grandchildren, Marcello, Marcus and Nolon Bentine. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday (Oct. 29) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Father George Kloster officiating. Burial in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Notes for IRA WARD RUNYAN:
Ira Ward Runyan was only five years of age when his mother Monnie Hall died. He along with his brother and sister were raised on a farm owned by his grandmother, Columbia (Hatfield) Runyon.

During the late 1930's he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps building roads in Idaho.

When World War II came about, he became a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was trained in the Southwest United States and Florida in radar, and was eventually stationed in England.

After the war, he operated with his father ( John Ransom Runyon ) a watch repair business in Russell Kentucky. In 1946 he married Clara May Knox, and they moved to Melbourne, Florida in January, 1952.
He worked for RCA in radar maintenance for the Eastern Test Range until the latter part of 1969, when NASA took over RCA's contract. When he first moved to Florida he collected watches needing repair from RCA employees and employees of Patrick Air Force Base, repaired them at home at night, and used the profits of his repair business to purchase building supplies to build his house.

In the early 1970's he went to work for Harris Semiconductor in Palm Bay, Florida and remained with that company until he retired.

Notes for KEVIN WARD RUNYAN:
Kevin W. Runyan attended elementary school in Indalantic, Florida and went on to Junior High School and High School in Satellite Beach, Florida. He did not like school, and he quit as soon as the law allowed. He later received his GED while serving in the U.S. Army.

After leaving school, Kevin worked as a auto mechanic at a local repair shop, then he got a job with the Volkswagen dealership located on US1 in Melbourne, Florida. Thereafter, he was drafted into military service.

Kevin W. Runyan served in the US Army during the years of 1968 to 1970. He was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in the motor pool for a year and his last year of service was in Korea along the DMZ.

When he returned from Korea, Kevin ran with his father, Ira W. Runyan, a Texaco Gas Station for a year.
In September, 1971, he was employed by the City of Melbourne, Florida, Airport Authority, and he remained with them until his 30 year retirement September, 2001. He attended a retirement party sponsored by his employers in October, 2001. Kevin died in his sleep on December 14, 2001, shortly after receiving his first retirement check

Notes for IRA ALDEN RUNYAN:
Ira A. Runyan was born in Ironton, Ohio on June 12, 1947 and moved with his family to Brevard County, Florida when he was 4 1/2 years of age (January, 1952). He was raised on the beachs east of Melbourne, Florida.

He graduated from Satellite High School (Satellite Beach, Florida) in 1966, and received an Associates of Science Degree from Brevard Jr. College (now Brevard Community College) in August, 1968. He attended the University of Florida for one term and was drafted into the US Army, begining service in September, 1969.

He served in the US Army for one year as a Chemical & Biological Wepons Instructor, then was sent to Viet Nam from October 7, 1970 to September 17, 1971.  In Viet Nam he served in the XXIV Corps HHC at a basecamp located across the river from Denang, Viet Nam, and worked as an intelligence analyst.

After returning from Viet Nam, he moved to Orlando, Florida and Attended the University of Central Florida, College of Business Administration and received his BSBA in August, 1973.

In December, 1973 he was employed by the State of Florida, Department of Banking & Finance and worked as a Financial Investigator Supervisor for ten years, after which he moved to Melbourne, Florida and became a computer database programer.

Ira A. Runyan has worked a number of part time jobs including janitorial, painter, stock clerk, veternary assistant, gas stations, real estate salesman and broker, and kennel worker.

Donna Carlene Runyan's hobby is raising pet birds and art.  She has purchased a house next door to the one she lives in and converted it into an art studio.  Her paintings are displayed in several resturants in the state of Florida.
