Jack "Blackjack" MacKay PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: Jack is in his early sixties, solidly-built, of Scottish/Irish stock. His hair has gone white with age, and he wears a neatly-trimmed moustache. Inevitably, he is dressed conservatively - a navy or black suit with a nondescript tie. Jack wears his dogtags and a St. Christopher/St. Michael medal around his neck. POWERS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT: None. MacKay is in excellent physical shape for his age, and well-trained in the combat techniques of the US Military. His contacts and favors owed throughout the military and political world are legion. Jack holds degrees in Electronics/Computer Systems (BS), Military Science (MA), Geopolitical History (MA), and International Law (JD), and is a graduate of the National Cryptological School. CHARACTER HISTORY: Born in 1940 in Boston, Johnathan "Jack" Andrew MacKay, grew to become an excellent student, graduating from the Naval Academy in 1961. Jack served two tours of duty in Vietnam (60-62,63-65) before being transferred to the Office of Naval Intelligence. His work with the ONI involved covert operations of a quasilegal nature inside the Soviet border throughout the late sixties. A ruthless efficiency with "black ops" and a growing reputation as a risk-taker earned him the nickname "Blackjack" amongst his colleagues in operations. Over the years since leaving the service, MacKay has worked in several capacities for various branches of the Department of Defense, most recently being placed in charge of the OSI's Cybernetics Program (although that's not what it says on his paycheck). MacKay worked with Dr. Peter Mallory in coordinating the selection of John Redhawk as the first test subject in the program, and now oversees Redhawk's testing and official duties.
