Reiki (Ray-Key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki means Universal Life Energy. It is an ancient healing art that was rediscovered in Japan in the 1900s by Dr. Mikao Usui.
How Reiki Heals
The energy or Ki that flows around us is what keeps us alive. Ki flows within the physical body through pathways like the meridians or chakras. It also flows around us in an energy field called the aura. The cause of good health is the freely and balance flow of Ki. It animates the physical organs and tissues as it flows through them. The Ki nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When the flow of Ki is disrupted, it causes diminished functioning within one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body. Therefore, it is the disruption in the flow of Ki that is the main cause of illness.
Thoughts and feelings can affect your flow of Ki. Positive optimistic thoughts increases your flow of Ki and causes us to feel better. But when we have negative pessimistic thoughts, our Ki is disrupted and diminished and then it creates blockages. These blockages, that attach to our energy, can affect our organs and tissues in our body. The blockages can diminish the vital functioning of the organs and cells of the physical body, and unless they are released it will eventually cause the person to become ill.
When someone receives Reiki the energy flows through them to remove these blockages and charge them with positive energy. Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing healthy Ki to flow in a natural way. When the Ki is flowing naturally, the physical organs and tissues are then able to complete their healing process.
