BAD TASTE :
(1988, New-Zealand)
Directed by: Peter Jackson
First off it must be known what a classic
film of epic proprtions this is. From the bizarre beginning to the all out low-budget
madness that ensues. Pete Jackson basically made this film (he did everything) with help
from some good friends. The little story there is has funky looking aliens attacking
Jacksons real life home town using it's inhabitants for an interglactic fast food chain.
The OTT delivery from the cast, non-stop stomach churing but humorous gore scenes (superb
for a film of this budget) take-care of the low budget look this has but really even this
adds to the films campiness.
The best character in the film is Derek who
falls to his bloodsplattered gore soaked death only to arise again. After this incident
Derek has trouble keeping piecies of his brain in his skull until he picks up someones
elses splattered brains on the ground and shoves them in. There is every gore scene
imaginable in this. Chainsaw halvings, the concluding chainsaw dive which has to be seen
to be believed. Dawn Of The Dead machete in the cranium hommage, 44-magnum head exploding,
brain eating from the blown apart head with a spoon, machine gun through the guts, a foot
stabbing, sheep exploding along with vomiting and vomit eating.
Peter Jackson's father plays the head
alien. There's too many classic moments (if there is such a thing). Humorous, action
packed gore soaked masterpiece. One of my fav's of the genre. On par with Jackson's bigger
bugeted epic Braindead AKA Dead Alive.
