What does Organic Certification mean?

NASAA, BFA, DEM, OHGA, HFA and OFC (abbreviations are explained below) are the main Certification Bodies of Australia. Their role is to ensure that all products with the label "Organic or "Biodynamic" are grown, harvested and produced in accordance to the requirements specified by that particular certification.
All certifications prohibit the use of chemicals, artificial fertilizers, chemically synthesized herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, fumigants and growth promotants.
All farmers use farming methods that are regenerative and in harmony with nature.
These products are also free from Genetically Modified Organisms.
To receive certification each farm under goes a chemical residue test of their product as well signing a Statutory Declaration covering the management practices of the previous five years. To keep their certification they must pass all random chemical residues testing thereafter.
