Choosing the right dog to fit your lifestyle is very important. You need to answer some important questions like, how much time will you have to spend with the dog in terms of exercise, grooming, and companionship. Do you have any other pets that might be a problem? Are you willing to take on the responsibilities of a dog?

Dogs need many things like grooming bathing, nail clipping, exercise, feeding, training, and companionship. You also have to remember that you are going to have bills for the vet and grooming etc. Dogs live rather long; larger dogs live 10-14 years and small dogs can live up to 20 years. Many say mixed breeds have the best health temperament. Others want a specific breed. Based on your lifestyle and what kind of dog do you want (mixed or purebred) go to your local shelter or rescue group and start looking for the new member of your family.

You also have to think where you want to get the dog.  You can go to your local shelter or rescue group and get a perfectly good dog (purebred or mixed).   You also may want to go to a breeder to get a specific breed of dog.  I really would not recommend getting a dog at a pet store because 98% of dogs at pet stores are from puppy mills and have many inherited diseases and illnesses.
