"I am an activist who has been working to abolish the death penalty in Texas for many years. I oppose the death penalty because I believe it is immoral to take human life. I have also discovered that the legal system has many flaws and biases that can lead to an innocent person being sentenced to death. Furthermore, the death penalty degrades and brutalizes us as a society." One of the most powerful voices against the death penalty is Murder Victims Families for Reconciliation (MVFR). Members of MVFR who have lost a loved one to murder know that the death penalty is not the answer to their pain. They choose to honor the memory of their loved ones through compassion and forgiveness, not by creating more victims though executions. They know that forgiveness and acceptance are the keys to healing. This is why it is an honor for me to serve on the Advisory Board of MVFR - Texas. It is my hope that this organization will grow to be a strong voice in Texas, a voice that will loudly proclaim "Not in My Name!"
