Morocco consists of Morocco proper and the disputed Western Sahara which Morocco annexed after the Spanish withdrew in 1975.  Due to its disputed status PCVs were not allowed to travel south of Tarfaya, so much of what I will be showing you is from Morocco proper.  This picture shows where Morocco is located on the African continent.
The Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca  is the lagest religious monument in the world after Mecca.  Up to 80,000 people can worship at the mosque. The minaret is the highest in the world at over 600 feet!
Costing more than $800 million to build, Moroccans take pride in the fact that each citizen was asked to give a donation to help in the construction.  To many people it is not the King's mosque, but the people's!
