   Born Mary Martha Byrne, this As the World Turns star has come along way from the fifteen year old girl we've grown to love over the years. She began her acting carrer in the Broadway play "ANNIE" at the age of eight where she played the role of July and understudied the title role. It wasen't until May of 1985 did she land the role of spoiled little rich girl Lily Walsh, daughter of the wealthy Lucinda Walsh on As the World Turns. She continued the role until October of 1989 when she took a break to pursue other opportunities. Fans embraced her as she returned to the role in April of 1993.

   Martha has been in numerous made for TV programs as well as feature films. Her hard work and dediction have earned her two Daytime Emmys, one in 1987 for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama series and just this past year she won for Outstanding Lead Actress for her portrayal of twin sisters Lily and Rose. She has been nominated four other times for a Daytime Emmy in the categorie of Oustanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series. She was also nominated for a Soap Opera Digest Award with co-star Jon Hensley for best couple.

   Martha resides in New York state with her husband New York Police officer Michael McMahon and their 3 year old son Mikey.

Most Romantic Moment: " I'd have to say my most romantic moment was when my husband proposed to me. We were at a little Chinese restauraunt where we had our first date. He took me to lunch and we were the only people there. This was the only time i've ever been surprised; he took me by completely by surprise and I am very inquisitive. He even waited 20 minutes for everyone to leave so that he knew we'd be alone."
