Macula

Anatomy :-

Macula is the area responsible for the 'straight ahead' vision. It is the area of maximum visual acuity of the eye.

Come to think of it, this 5mm area controls us!

Location- It is located on the temporal side of the optic nerve.

It has the maximum concentration of cones, that are responsible for vision in day light and colour vision.  At the center of the macula is the pit called fovea.
