LOW VISION AIDS

Low vision aids are the devices that improve vision. They will not be able to restore normal vision, but will may help in getting vision enough to do daily activities.

They are of two main types :-

Optical and

Non-Optical

Optical :-

They use a combination of lens to give magnification.

	Magnifying glasses in spectacle
	Hand held Magnifiers
	Stand Magnifiers.
	Telescopes for improving distance vision
	Closed-Circuit Television.

Non-Optical devices :-

	Large print books
	Large playing cards
	Large telephone dial pads
	Computers with large screen
	Machines that read aloud

Aids to increase the field of vision in cars

Low Vision Enhancement System -

'Bright Eyes'

	Light weight, can be mounted on the head.
	Enhance near and travel vision.
