A-Scan Ultrasonography :-

Nowadays everyone is familiar with Ultrasonography( USG ) for a pregnant lady. Ultrasonography is used in the eye too! 

A special type called A Scan USG is used to know what number Intraocular lens (IOL) should be put in the eye after cataract surgery. Anesthetic drops are put  to temporarily numb the eye. The footplate of the A scan is touched to the cornea and readings are taken.
