Squadron Patch

The McMinnville Composite Squadron is proud to have a long standing relationship with Evergreen Aviation and the Evergreen Aviation Museum. Our first major event, as a new squadron over 20 years ago, the Squadron assisted with a private Air Show for Evergreen International. It featured famous test pilot Bob Hover.

Since that time we have we have worked closely with Evergreen on many projects including the Evergreen Aviation Museum..

Our Squadron Patch was designed by Dave Herbert, of Evergreen International. It depicts the famous Howard Hughes, Spruces Goose flying over the Yamhill County. The patch is on our BDU ’and our squadron optional clothing. We are proud of it!

The Squadron and the Evergreen Museum have worked closely on several major projects:

·      Many squadrons from the Oregon Wing in addition to ours have assisted major events at the Museum. The arrival of the Goose to McMinnville, Vietnam Memorial Wall, Anniversary Celebrations, arrival of the SR-71, Rocket Weekend, support the Troops Rally and many other  special events for CAP and the Museum.

·      Squadron Members have taught classes at the Museum ranging from Aerospace’s Education to Outdoor Survival. We have even launched our CAP Flight 2000, our computerized Space Shuttle Simulator at the Museum.

·      McMinnville and Mt Angel Cadets have been rebuilding a Gyrocopter at the Museum. This has been a fun teambuilding project for both squadrons.

·      Several key Museum staff members are now Civil Air Patrol members

·      Some of the Squadron members are now registered volunteers at the Museum

·      The Squadron has a display that promotes the three main missions of CAP at the Museum occasionally manned by local and Wing Cadets

·      The McMinnville Squadron helps coordinates Wing activities and Squadron visits at the Museum
