Gary Armstrong.Scotland.

Gary Armstrong played 6 matches during the 96-97 Linwood 2nd XV season. He was a lorry driver at the time and was obsessed with how "hard" he was, compared to the rest of the team. He would regularly pick fights with the under 12 girls hockey team at Linwood sports centre. More than once he finished up in Casualty unconcious from a wild blow to the head from a plastic hockey stick(He is only 3 foot 5 inches tall) Concerned about his rapid decline in coinfidence and related poor performances. Linwood decided to match him up with the other Linwood easy touch...

Big Tam!

It was over in 4 seconds after Tam went down like a burst bag of shit. Not from any physical blows ,(Tam was once knocked unconcious by a powerful shower ) but from Li'l Gary viciously naming Tam as a 'hump'. Two years on and Tam still regularly receives pumellings from players who are a tad disgruntled and he is thankful for it, The club punch bag if you like. After Gary's great victory he went on to play and fight much better with another Linwood great, Michael Lynagh. They both left soon after when Gary got a job putting labels on jars in Newcastle. Michael followed him and last we heard he got lost and was in London. In the picture above Michael was supposed to recieve a pass from Gary but Gary said it was his ball and he was going home for his tea. Michael wasn't amused. A fight followed and the two small men battled it out through the night.

Gary is welcome back at Linwood, if only to take his frustrations out on Big Tam.
