Twillingates Long Point Lighthouse which stands above the rocky cliffs of Crow head Keeping a watchful eye over passing ships Was constructed in 1876 and is now over 120 years old. The Lighthouse assisted in the successful passing of Old House Shoal, a shallow section of the bay where many ships have been lost. The number of shipwrecks has been reduced to almost zero since the Lighthouse. The Lighthouse also reported ice and nautical conditions by morse code and was also equipped with a fog horn for poor visibility conditions. Visitors can view the passage of whales, seals, and icebergs from Long Point more infamously known as the Iceberg Alley. To this day the Lighthouse still stands strong and firm.
