Berry Nutty Smoothie
makes 1 drink

This is the banana-less version of my usual smoothie.  The nuts are a nice complement to the berries, plus they add more protein.  Other nuts can be used, ie. almonds or pecans, but I recommend walnuts because they are softer and grind up smoother.  You could also replace the nuts and milk with prepared nut-milk or nut-cream.  

1 c. Vanilla soy milk  (or milk)

1/2 c. Plain/vanilla yogurt

1  c.  Frozen Blackberries*

3-4 tbls. Crushed walnuts

3-4 cardamom pods, seeds removed and crushed*

4-5 mint leaves

Optional - 1/2 tsp. honey, or to taste

Mix all ingredients in a blender, on ice breaker mode for the frozen berries.

* I recommend at least 1/2 c. frozen berries for texture, but fresh blueberries, blackberries or raspberries can also be used.

* Either the cardamom or mint can be left out, just use a little extra of the other one.
