Chapter 1

Mario was sitting on a chair on his front lawn. He was peacefully reading the newspaper, but was intrigued by two articles. The first article was that the golden pyramid that was shown in last week's headliner was looted and destroyed. " Hmm. My brother Wario might of done this." Mario thought to himself as he began reading the second article. It said " Super Smash Tournament is revived! Any person wanting to fight, sign up at Toad Town today!" " Mama-mia! There's going to be another Super Smash Tournament? I better sign up!" Mario then got off his chair, folded the newspaper, and jumped in the warp pipe that led to Toad Town. After Mario jumped out of the pipe, he went to the center of Toad Town, saying hi to every toad he met along the way. He asked a child where to sign up for the tournament. The child pointed to a stand where the badge-dealer Rowf used to sell badges. At the stand, there were several fighters signing up for the tournament. Mario thanked the kid, went up to the front of the line to sign up. The other fighters didn't mind, since they saw Mario as a hero of the Mushroom Kingdom. As Mario was looking for a space to write in, he noticed several familiar names on the sign-up sheet. He saw Bowser's name next to Peach's. " Why would Peach be in this tournament?" Mario asked himself. " So I can teach Bowser a lesson without your assistance!" Answered a feminine voice. Mario looked in front of him, and saw the princess. " Peach! I didn't know you were running this stand!" " I'm not, Toad is. Anyway, you shouldn't cut in front of people in a line!" As Mario was still looking for an empty space, he noticed that Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Pauline Syrup, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Link, Falcon, Donkey Kong, Cranky Kong, Samus Aran, Jigglypuff, and Ness are in the tournament. He also noticed that the new fighters, besides Bowser and Peach, are Daisy, Ganondorf Dragmire (a.k.a. Mandrag Ganon), Marth, Roy, Zelda, Mewtwo, Pichu, Falco, and the extremely mysterious, new, eighth honorable star spirit Shokora in it. The only space left was down at the bottom. Mario signed it, and then the stand closed. Mario then heard a familiar but gruff voice behind him. " Well, I guess LARDIO is in the tournament then!" Mario turned around to see Bowser in front of him. " Hi Bowser! Guess this is going to be another beating, isn't it?" Bowser snickered. " Just you wait. I got a surprise for you at the final match!" Mario then had a worried look on his face, but it was just for a second. " Well. I'll be waiting for you, King Koopa!" Mario then went to his house to train.

 At his house, Mario saw the door open. He rushed inside his house to see his brother Luigi. " Luigi! What are you doing here?" " I came to visit you, bro. Did you sign-up for the tournament?" " Yes. I thought you were too busy training at your new mansion for a new adven..." Laughter broke Mario's attention before he could finish the sentence. " Ah ha ha ha ha!" Mario recognized the laugh. " I know that laugh. Wario, show yourself!" Wario then appeared through the side window of Mario's house. " Wario, what are you doing at my house?" Mario asked his greedy brother. " I'm here to happily pronounce that I, Wario Wario, is in the next Super Smash Tournament! After all, I beat you two and my brother Waluigi at the final match!" Wario then walked over the threshold, and sat down in a chair. " So what are you two up to?" he asked. "Training." Luigi answered. " Hey, can I and Waluigi train with you two?" Wario asked. Mario thought for a moment and said " Of course, but where's Waluigi?"   " He's outside, taking a nap under a tree." So Mario, Luigi, and Wario are now conversing with one another about their adventures, while Waluigi is sleeping under a tree.          

 At Peach's Castle . . .

" Peach, why do I have to train with you?" A disgruntled Bowser asks the princess while training outside her castle. " Even though you kidnapped me several times, I asked you to train with me so you can't fight Mario before the tournament. Hi ya!" Peach answered as she threw a vegetable at Bowser. Bowser caught the sprout, and threw it at Peach. Peach jumped over it, and landed next to Bowser. Before Bowser can grab her, Peach held her hand up to stop training. " It's time for lunch." She and Bowser then sat down at a table for lunch. Peach was served, by her toad servants, goomnut cake with kerokerocola, while Bowser was served a shroom steak, a deluxe feast, and koopasta with koopa tea. " Bowser, why do you try to take over my kingdom?" " Well, if you really must know, it's actually because I'm trying to reclaim land that you took from my ancestors, before I was born." " Oh, so that's the reason why." Peach said. Bowser then asked " Do you see anything in Mario besides bravery, kindness, and stupidity?" " No. Why?" " Just curious." " Bowser, Here are two questions I've been wondering about your children. Where are they right now, and who and where's their mother?" " Are you talking about the Kooplings, or are you talking about the Baby Bowsers?" " I'm talking about the Kooplings." " Well, Princess, if you really must know, they are at my castle in Dark Land, being babysitted by my head sorcerers Kamek and Kammy, and by my head pirates, Pauline Syrup and Rudy the Clown. As for my wife, her name is Koopalia, and . . ." Bowser then has a sad look on his face, and was then quiet. Peach, wanting to know what happened to her nemesis' wife, said " Go on." Bowser then completed the sentence with, " . . . she died after giving live birth for my children. That was a great loss for me, Peach! I was emotionally shattered!" Bowser then did something in front of Peach that was rarely seen in front of his troops, and his children. He mentally broke down and started crying. Peach, seeing that the very thing that tried to conquer her kingdom has feelings, felt sorry. " Bowser, you shouldn't be depressed by that right now. Think. What would Koopalia think if she saw you like this right now?" Bowser then stopped crying, and looked at Peach. " Sniff. Thanks, Peach. Thanks for letting me see that in a different view. Want to train some more?" " No. I think we trained enough for today. I think you should relax right now, and get things mentally straight before the tournament!" " Okay, but don't tell Mario or Wario you saw this, okay?" " Okay."    

Waluigi then woke up from under the tree he was sitting beneath. He saw Mario, Wario, and Luigi talking about some stuff in Mario's house. He decided to walk in on the conversation. " Hey Bros.!" He said as he walked in. " Hey Waluigi!" Mario said. " What are you and our bros. talking about?" " We were talking about our adventures. Want to watch tv with us?" " Sure." So Mario, Luigi, Waluigi, and Wario then sat on Mario's newly bought sofa, while Mario turned it on with a remote control. On the tv screen were interviews on one of the most interesting fighters in the next Super Smash Tournament. The interview was with  Pauline Syrup. Before the commercials came, Mario looked at her face and was surprised. " Wario! Captain Syrup looks exactly like Pauline from New York!" Wario wasn't surprised. " I know. I was a little surprised by that when I first saw her on the Kitchen Isles!" " Are they the same women?" " Yes." " Mama-mia! I can't believe that our first girlfriend that we met in Brooklyn is also the meanest pirate in the Mushroom Seas!" " She's also part of the Koopa Troop!" Wario said. After the commercials came, the interview came. Sitting on a chair was Captain Syrup and an interviewer, which was a toad. " So, Captain Syrup," " Call me Pauline." The pirate interrupted. " Okay. So, Pauline, I heard that the only reason your new rival, Samus Aran, entered the last tournament is because she was trying to get you for stealing a black suit of armor back when she was at a mushroom hotel. Is that true?" " Why yes. When she was busy modifying her orange suit by adding internal weapons to it when she was at that hotel in Rose Town, I was looking to steal something and saw her ship. I then snuck into the ship, and found this array of suits. I stole the one I liked best, which was the black armor, and then escaped from the ship. Before the first tournament began, She saw me training with the armor on. She was furious and then signed up on the tournament to fight me. I also stole a purple suit of armor from her after the tournament." The interviewer was intrigued to hear that. " I got a few questions to ask. What was your relationship with both Mario and Wario back in Brooklyn?"   " Oh, we were girlfriend and boyfriends. Mario and Wario took turns dating me. They thought I was just a helpless girl after that incident with Cranky Kong and Bowser, but they didn't know that I was a spy for Bowser." " How was Bowser involved with that incident with Cranky Kong?" " You see, when Mario was after Cranky Kong, Bowser, by accident, distracted Wario by having the plumber chase him. He barely escaped Wario by falling down through a warp pipe." " Oh. I got one more question. Did you have a, um, sexual relationship with the plumbers?" " Why no! How dare you ask me that!" After Syrup yelled, a click was heard. Samus Aran then suddenly burst through the ground, and started shooting missiles everywhere. Syrup jumped out of the path of the missles, and caught Samus in a strangle hold. Samus then wrapped her electric whip around Syrup " I came here to give you a little payback before the tournament starts!" " Oh yeah, I'm going to give you a beating before the tournament starts!" Syrup than broke out of the hold and pressed a button on Samus' mask, which caused the mask to come off. " Ah! I can't see! You turned off everything in my mask!" Samus yelled. Syrup quickly went behind the now nearly blind Samus, grabbed the mask which was still on Samus' head, and then knocked her rival out by hitting Samus' exposed head with her own mask. Syrup then picked Samus up, and left the building with the bounty hunter as her captive. The interviewer was shocked. " Okay, this interview is over, bye bye!"  

When the commercials came, Mario and Wario were surprised, " Wow. I expect the match between those two to be exciting, don't you think Wario?" Mario asked. " I think so too. Let's quit watching tv, and train for the tournament." So the Mario Bros. and the Wario Bros. then went over to Mario's lawn to start training. Mario started by doing backflips, sideflips, long jumps, and wall jumps. Luigi started doing the same, but when he did the wall jump, he ended up falling on the ground. Waluigi then started to do the same, but when he did the wall jump, he ended up overdoing it, because when he landed, he was in Toad Town. After Waluigi returned to Mario's house, Wario then started training after he just finished his warm-up. He first started by pressing a 4,000 Ib. barbell 1,000 times. He then did 10,000 pushups (one on each arm, with his fists clinched. That actually makes 20,000 pushups). After that, he then ran all around Mario's house for 80 times, while listening to some headphones. Wario wasn't even remotely close to exhaustion after that, but he did a break to drink some water. After the break, Wario then started jump-roping for three hours. During this time, his brothers have taken a nap. They woke up after Wario finished jump-roping. Wario then completed his training by doing what Mario has down, except they were three feet higher then Mario's jumps. Wario was now exhausted because of this training. Wario then cooled down by taking two 500 Ib. weights from his pockets, and started lifting them for thirty minutes. His brothers were amazed that Wario could train for so long, under extremely intense conditions. Mario then looked at his clock in his house and was amazed that Wario trained for five hours. Mario then came out with an amazed look on his face. " Mama Mia! Wario, how did you get so powerful? When I fought you to get my castle back in Mario Land, you, in your super-form, could be defeated by nine stomps on the head!" Wario then laughed. " I've been training ever since that day!" " Well, when I get in another adventure with Bowser, I could let you face him instead of me!" " Bowser! Ha! After Waluigi beat him for that black star stamp that I later won to avenge him, and won the Millennium Star, he most likely won't be fighting me because of fear!" Luigi and Waluigi, still shocked, then said at the same time, " Let's go watch tv. We had enough training for now!"  

After Mario, Wario, Luigi, and Waluigi went in Mario's house, a nimbus from Nimbus Land, and a goomba wearing a blue cap were amazed by how much Wario trained. These two are Mallow, the Nimbian prince who first met Mario during his adventure against the robotic alien, Smithy, and  Goombario, who realized his dream of helping Mario on one of his adventures by helping Mario rescue the Star Rod from Bowser's evil clutches. " Mallow," Goombario spoke, " who was that person that trained for all those hours?" " I don't know, Goombario, but he does look alot like that greedy plumber, Wario Wario. Maybe that was him?" " If that was him, then I sure would choose Bowser if I had to choose to fight either between him and Bowser!" Suddenly, a noise was heard behind them. " Wh...who's there?" Seven koopas, with spiked shells and different hair types, came out. Behind them were two magikoopas, a male with a blue robe and a female with a purple robe, flying on their broomsticks, with a giant clown-creature behind them. " Ahhh! Who are you?" Mallow said in fear. The magikoopa in blue robes answered" My name's Kamek. I'm Bowser's head magikoopa, and right now I'm taking Bowser's seven children, the Koopalings, on a daily hike with my sister, Kammy, and with one of our head pirates, Rudy the Clown." " Why are you near Mario's house?" " We're near Mario's house? How intriguing! I didn't know Mario lived there! Lemmy, Morton, Wendy, Iggy, Roy, Lemmy, and Ludwig! Let's visit Mario, but don't mess with him before the tournament, because your father wants to fight him in top shape!" " Okay!" the Koopalings said in unison. So, Mallow, Goombario cautiously followed Kamek and the rest as they went towards Mario's house. 

(ADDITION: OCTOBER 11, 2002:)

Wario heard a noise. He motioned his brothers to look outside with him. To their surprise, when they looked outside, they saw Kamek, the Kooplings, Rudy, and Mallow and Goombario. " Hi, plumbers," Kamek said with a smile. " I came here to check how are doing before the tournament." " Kamek," Mario said," Why are Mallow and Goombario with you?" Goombario then answered, " Mario! At first, me and Mallow came here to watch you train, but after you finished training, Kamek, Rudy, and the Kooplings came here for their daily walk, but they saw us and we asked them a question about what were they doing here, and after we told them about your house, they decided to go to your house, and we followed them." " That was a bad idea, Goombario. These people aren't trustworthy!" Kamek then replied to Mario's criticism by saying, " We didn't come to hurt you. We came here to check on you, since King Koopa wants you to fight him in top shape!" " Okay, I believe you, but if you try anything funny, you'll have to leave the Mushroom Kingdom, or else me and my brothers will be forced to fight you!"  " Okay, but me and my accompanists will be leaving right now." With a wave of his wand, Kamek, Kammy, Rudy, and the Kooplings disappeared in a puff of smoke. Wario then laughed. " Ah ha ha ha ha ha! I had a feeling Kamek wasn't going to fight!"  Luigi whistled in relief. " Whew. I haven't been in a fight with koopas ever since that adventure in Dinosaur Land, so I'm glad we didn't have to fight them here!" Waluigi also sighed in relief. " Yeah, I know what you mean. I know I can beat Bowser in a fight, but not most of his strongest minions!" " Okay, Bros.," Mario said. Mallow then told Mario something. Mario then said, " Let's go back inside. Wario! Stay with Mallow and Goombario! Mallow also tells me that his parents will be picking him up to visit Frogfucius as soon as he calls them!" " Okay." As the others walked in Mario's house, Goombario asked Wario, " Wario, Exactly how much money you have?" " Well, I estimate I have enough to buy both the Mushroom Kingdom's and the Koopa Kingdom's armies." Wario then jumped in the pipe that led to Toadtown. Goombario and Mallow followed. " So, Wario." Mallow asked as he pulled out a phone, " Where are you going?" " I'm going to the store to buy ingredients for Italian food. Why do have your phone out?" " Oh to call my parents to call the cloud bus to get me so I can go to Tadpole Pond." While Mallow was busy talking on the phone, Goombario asked " Can we follow you?" " Sure." Wario said " Do you have any frog coins, along with any gold coins?" Wario reached into his left pocket and pulled out a bag full of green coins, and then reached into his right pocket and pulled out a bag full of gold coins. " Do these answer your question?" " Yes. Can you please buy, for me, ingredients for Goomnut cake and as for Mallow, cricket pie with kerokerokola, since he is going to leave in a few seconds to visit his grandfather Frogfucius?" " Okay." Wario then went into the store, where he saw a giant man with dark skin and red hair asking the store owner to give him the store's money and goods, or else he'll punch him out. " Who are you?" Wario asked the giant. " I am Ganondorf, the former king of the Gerudo thieves! Right now I'm robbing this store to try to get my nemesis Link over here!" " You, a thief? Ha! I'm better at thievery than you are! I challlenge you to a thieve's match right now!" " You want a fight with me, then so be it!"  " Bring it on!" Wario and Ganon then went in fighting stances. " You should be warned that I'm also the master of the forces of darkness. Even though the Triforce has weakened over the centuries, my power is still great!" Ganon then dashed towards Wario with the Gerudo Dragon. Wario sidestepped the attack, and then pulled out a homerun bat and swung it at Ganon. The swing hit the Gerudo, sending him flying out the door and into Toad Town's water fountain, where a little girl was playing. A splash followed. The splash hit the girl, and she started hitting the stunned Ganondorf with her purse. A pointy-eared man wearing green clothes and a pointy-eared woman appeared. They then picked up Ganondorf and set him against a wall. " Link. Zelda." Ganon dizzily said to the man and woman, " I'll be seeing you at the tournament." and then he fell unconscious. " Sigh." Zelda said, " Ganondorf's causing trouble again. Link, pick him up and let's go." Link then put Ganondorf on his shoulders, and then followed Zelda out of Toad Town.

 Back at the store, the store owner was relieved. " Whew! I thought I was a goner for a second. How can I ever repay you, Wario?" " Well, you can start by giving me some free things." " Deal!" So the store owner then gave Wario what he needed and Wario then left the store. Goombario and Mallow were at the fountain arguing. " Hey, Mallow, that was pretty funny the way you screamed when that giant nearly hit you when he went flying out of the door!" Goombario laughed. " Hey, it's not funny!" Mallow said. " Hey guys!" Wario said. " Hey Wario! You won't believe what happened! A giant flew out of the store and it nearly hit Mallow!" " Yeah, I know! Here's the supplies for you and Mallow." After Wario gave the supplies to Goombario and Mallow, the Nimbus cloud bus appeared. Mallow got on it, and waved goodbye as the bus left Toad Town. Goombario then asked, " Can you take me home? My parents are still worried that I might run into trouble!" " Sure. Where do you live?" " Goomba Village." " Okay, let's go then."

Wario was walking out of Toad Town with Goombario when he heard something. Wario went to some bushes and peeked through them. He saw Link and Zelda sticking Ganondorf into this strange portal. " Link," Zelda said, " We need to make sure Ganon doesn't escape the Realm of Evil before the tournament starts." Link then pushed back a strand of his hair. " Yeah, I know what you mean. Let's make a time seal to the portal, so that only when the tournament starts, it will be opened and we won't have to worry about him." " Okay, that's a good idea." Zelda then said a magical incantation that then closes the portal with a time seal. Link then pulled out a blue orcania and played a magical tune. Wings then surrounded Link and Zelda and started spinning until it disappeared all into a shrinking ball. Wario and Goombario then started to back away until they bumped into something from behind. They looked and saw Donkey Kong with Kirby. " Hey Wario," DK asked, " What are you doing with that shroom?" " I'm taking him home, to Goomba Village . What are you doing with Kirby and where are all the other fighters?" Kirby then answered the question by replying, " Donkey here is just showing me around the Mushroom Kingdom since I really didn't get a chance to explore it. All the other fighters are in their own realms training. Say, since me and DK just finished exploring Toad Town, maybe we could travel to Goomba Village with you and explore the area around it. Let's travel in these!" Kirby then pulled out four warp stars. " Cool!" Goombario said. " Um, I don't know. I might fall off!" Wario said. " Don't worry. Once you're on, warp stars use their magic to make you not fall off until you land!" " Okay, if you say so." Wario, Kirby, DK, and Goombario then got on the warp stars, and started flying towards Goomba Village, with Goombario in the lead. Wario, during the whole time, had a worried look on his face, being afraid that he might hit a tree branch and fall onto a spiked goomba or worse. When they arrived at Goomba Village, the stars  slowed down and stopped at about three feet off the ground. Wario and the others then got off. " Okay, Goombario," Wario said, " You go to your parents right now. I'll be going off into Toad Town Sewers, which is a shortcut to Toad Town." Goombario smiled. DK then yawned. " I'm sleepy. Can I sleep at the Toad House in this village?" Goombario answered, " Yes." DK, thanking Goombario, headed towards the Toad House to fall asleep. Kirby then said, " Wario, I got an idea, since DK is going to take a nap, Goombario should introduce us to his parents. I should convince them to have Goombario show me around the place. Goombario, where did your parents tell you to meet them?" " My parents, grandparents, and my sister told me to, oops, meet them in Koopa Village. Sorry." " Oh forget about it. We still have the warp stars, don't we? We could use them to get to Koopa Village and back. How does that sound?" " Great!" " Okay, let's go. Good bye Wario. Tell the Toad in the Toad House to tell DK that we're at Koopa Village when he wakes up, okay?" Kirby said as he flew off with Goombario on warp stars. Wario then walked over to the Toad House, opened the door, and found a mushroom person standing at the bed with Donkey Kong asleep in it. " I'm sorry. We have no more beds for you to sleep in." The mushroom said. " I don't want to sleep! I came here to tell you that when DK wakes up, tell him that Kirby and Goombario are at Koopa Village, okay?" Wario said. He then opened the door and left the Toad House. Wario decided to explore the place a bit. He entered Goombario's house, looked at some things, and went to the balcony, but when he walked through the door, he tripped on a broom and was sent falling off the balcony, screaming. Wario then landed on the ground. He looked around him. To his right was a field, and to his left were some woods. " Where am I?" He aked himself as he went in the field.

 Wario decided to sit down on a block, wondering where he is. Unbeknownst to him, several creatures were creeping behind him. When he turned around, he saw a small koopa child, stll in his egg shell, carrying a stick, surrounded by goombas, some having wings and some wearing spiked green hats. " Who are you?" Wario asked. The child answered, " I'm Jr. Troopa, sworn enemy of Mario. This is my playground and you're on it. I, with the help of my gang, shall crush you! Atta . . ." Before Jr. Troopa could finish the command, Wario dashed through, knocking over Troopa Jr. and his gang of goombas before they could attack. " I'll get you . . ." Jr. Troopa said as he lay on the ground dazed. Wario then left the field and decided to take the other path, which was full of goombas. Wario defeated them all and entered Goomba Village. Wario then jumped into the blue pipe that leads to Toad Town Sewers. He then found his way towards a pipe that led to the surface of Toad Town, but not without finding a strange salesperson named Rip Cheato. When Wario entered the warp pipe, he found himself inside a warehouse. Wario opened the only door in the warehouse and found out that he's in Toad Town. Wario then headed towards the pipe that leads to Mario's House. When he arrived, he found a note that said the Tournament is starting right now. Wario entered Mario's House and found a portal in the bedroom. Wario, leaving the ingredients for Italian food behind, jumped through the portal.

  Wario then awoke to a new surrounding. He looked around him and saw he was on a large, round, walless arena surrounded by stars. He looked behind himself and saw all of the other fighters standing in a circle, surrounding what appears to be two giant hands. Donkey Kong is laying on the ground, still asleep. Mario, Luigi, and Waluigi are talking to Peach and Daisy. Yoshi and Kirby are arguing who can eat the most food, the same arguement they had since the last tournament. Bowser and a slightly dazed Ganondorf are arguing who has more power. Pikachu is showing Pichu and Mewtwo the new fighters. Marth and Roy are trying to make themselves look cool in front of Link and Zelda, who look like they don't know what's going on. Captain Falcon and Ness are arguing with Fox and Falco who has the coolest team if they fought in an exibition team battle match. Captain Syrup and Samus are arguing. Cranky Kong is telling Princess Shokora how lazy Donkey is. Six fighters that weren't on the list, two eskimos named Nana and Popo, a living Mr. Game-and-Watch, a child version of Link, a clone of Dr. Mario, and a round Jigglypuff were just keeping to themselves.

 The two giant hands then started to move. Everybody looked at the hands, even Donkey. The right hand moved normally, while the left hand moved erratically. The right hand then said " Welcome to the Second Super Smash Tournament! For those that weren't in the last tournament, I am Master Hand. For all of you, the other giant hand would be my more powerful brother, Crazy Hand. I will now introduce you to the rules. The rules go like this: The rules are based on a regular tournament, in which the goal is to fight to the top. Unlike any other tournament, five fighters who will make it to the top of five brackets will face both me and my brother. If any of you survive, you will be in for a big surprise made by one of the fighters for the final battle. There will be a prize for the sole survivor. Now as for being knocked out. You can knock out your oppenent in a number of ways. You can knock out your oppenent by knocking him off the arena, or by lowering his/her hit points to zero. As for items, we'll supply you with over twenty types of items from your different realms and some none of you have ever used. Now as for the arenas, you and your oppenent will be transported to different areas of your realms for battle. Each of these have at least three borders, two on the left and right sides, one on the top, and usually one on the bottem. At the two final battles, you will have to fight in our arena, which you're standing on right now. During this tournament, a lakitu will be video-taping our every move for our viewers watching out there, which he's doing right now. Now before the tournament starts, we have to pick which fighters will be in bracket one, two, three, four, and five followed by an A, B, C, D, or an E, and who will be the main enemy in the last two battles. You will know which bracket to go by pulling a sheet of paper with a number on it, or if you're the special fighter, you will see the word "special" on your piece of paper instead of a number. Also, after the tournament, you can participate in exibition matches. Okay, let's go!"

 The fighters then decided to pull numbers out of a jar. Bowser went first, and, secretly using magic, got the special card. The others then pulled just numbered cards. Everything is now set.
