The Knik 200-Joe Redington Sr. Memorial Sled Dog Race was founded by Sally Welch of Eagle River, Alaska. The Knik 200 was and continues to be a valuable training race for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. It is held each year on the first weekend in January.
The Knik 200 is an limited class race for all Dog Mushers meeting the qualifications as set forth by the Knik 200 Race committee
The Knik 200 covers 200 miles and is an Iditarod sanctioned race.

Wed. Jan. 2-Preferred date for food drops: WILLOW AIRPORT-Follow signs/ 40# limit per bag; no metal ties (or cover with cloth tape).
Thurs. Jan. 3- Last call for food drops-same as above.
Fri. Jan. 4- Mandatory Musher meeting and start position drawing; 8 pm- Knik Bar
Sat. Jan. 5- Knik Lake; Race Start-11 am/Mushers to be on the lake by 9 am for sled and vet checks.
Sun. Jan 6-Knik Lake-Race finish. Awards Banquet-7 pm at Knik Bar.

NOTE:
Straw will be provided in Skwentna. Mushers must provide and carry their cooker fuel in their sleds-do not put in drop bags!! Cold water is available in Skwentna.
A vet and dog drop area will be set up in Skwentna with dog return to Knik for a fee of $20.00 per dropped dog/ observe race rules regarding drop ties (metal only) and dog food.
