I was born and raised in Zimbabwe, Africa and at this time I reside in Malibu, California where I am completing my studies. Great to see our family tree! Thanks so much to those who with great dedication and committment traced the various family members to compile this, especially knowing that Kluckows are an independent bunch who have certainly spread out internationally. This message sent by Beverely Killian nee McEwan daughter of Dorothy Mary (nee Kluckow) and John Austen McEwan. Dorothy passed away on 30-7-2001, John passed away on 17-11-2000. Both would have been thrilled to see their fmaily tree on the internet.

Hi Di, Our question is where Sarah Anne Openshaw fits into their family tree. We have looked at it but dont see her name. As she is 50% of our origins it would be most interesting to see her lineage. This question is posed by Sue Hellstrom and Malcolm Stephenson, daughter and son of Mollie. Sue has Sarah as a middle named after Sarah Ann Kluckow.

Hi Sue and Malcolm - the link has yet to be found - I am publishing details about every Openshaw in SA and Botswana on the Openshaw page. The Openshaw burial ground in Kanye is the key to the mystery. There's an Openshaw family bible - I am waiting for details of Openshaws recorded in it. As I research I am placing everything I find in my research notes on the Openshaw page and hope that this will inspire visitors to the site to pass on information. You will see in the Kluckow page one of the Kluckows was married in Kanye as well. Other information I need is where and when Kluckow and Openshaw married. The date of Kluckow's birth has not yet been confirmed. I am Zouna Fonternel, born Muller. My father Michael Muller, was made prisoner of war on 21 December 1900 on the farm The Priory, district of Winburg, Free State. He used to tell us that he was housed in a tin shed en route to India, via Durban. Thanks to you, I now know that the tin shed must have been part of Tin Town Camp, Ladysmith.

Greetings from Bill and Mark Kluckow sons of the late Major F. W. Kluckow oldest son of Boyce and Marie King in Zimbabwe. Dad passed away 20th January 1997. Mom is now living in PMB in SA. We have enjoyed reading through the family tree. A few ammendments to our family tree need to be made. Bill's date of birth should read 21 July 1955 and Mark's should read 11 May 1957. Also does anyone have a official coat of arms for the Kluckow family? We have some excellent old hunting photos of the original FW Kluckow who came out from Germany, we will send them once we have them digitilized.

My name is Max Greenberg and I am the youngest of Ethel Kluckow's children. This year (2002). I landed up in hospital in Sydney, Australia. A doctor (professor) visited my bed amd asked permission to demonstrate to his students on a condition. I noticed his name tag was "Kluckow". Give me some names I gasped. Dear Di, My sisters,Ethel Peters in UK (I believe the name 'Ethel' is a Kluckow hand-me-down) and Carol Read in RSA informed me about your project. My father John Thomas Openshaw was the Secretary-General of the Botswana Liberal Party and with his older brother Joseph Henry made up the Openshaw Bros. Pty Ltd of Botswana. For the record. The Family Bible which my father has was handed down from father to son since 1816 as was the case with my father and someday with me. I have a brother, Wayne living in Norfolk, UK previously in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Hi Diana - Re the Openshaw who was the trader. Francistown was not named after him. This was disputed in EC Tabler’s “Pioneers of Rhodesia” that Francistown was named after Liverpool born Daniel FRANCIS (1840 - 1921), who mined in the area and had extensive land holdings just south of the present town. hi, i have stumbled over this web site, and have descovered that my two aunts and uncle have been here already. i am kirsten samantha tara openshaw, the daughter or wayne openshaw and the grand-daughter of john openshaw. i am 17 and studing in england, i am currently at college and have just finished my first year. i found the information about the graves at kenya interesting as my father has taken me there, when we lived in botswana. this is all very intesting information as i dont really know much about my fathers family tree. keep up the good work, ihope you find all the information needed.
