Kilnsey is an ideal starting point from which to explore the Dales, with
a wealth of footpaths around the village. The beautiful walk along ancient

There
could not be a more ideal base for the fly-fishing addict than Kilnsey Old Hall. Sharpen your skills at Kilnsey Trout Farm, a stones throw from the Hall, before
moving on to the river Wharfe, five minutes walk
away, to catch wild trout among many other species in the spring-fed waters of
the river.

Nature
Bird-watchers,
naturalists and flower lovers can all enjoy the unspoiled environment around Kilnsey.
The
Trout Farm attracts a variety of wildfowl - wigeon, pochard, shoveler, shelduck, herons and more. Oystercatchers, kingfishers,
dippers and goosanders can all be seen on the nearby Wharfe.
On the moor tops raven, merlin, peregrine falcon,
grouse, curlew and lapwing all breed along with a host of other typical upland
species.

Wild
orchid can be seen in local woodland along with roe deer and a variety of
smaller mammals.
Patient
naturalists can even catch a glimpse of the elusive otter which breeds on the Wharfe nearby.
