KUROORAMMA-2
The Swami of Vilwamangalam was very famous. Lord
Krishna appeared before him at the time of his puja (worship). He was very knowledgeable
Great number of people approached him for advice. He became a friend,
philosopher and guide to the people around.
At
that time a young man in the town developed severe pain in his stomach. He went
to different doctors nobody could cure him. The pain increased day by day.
Neither the attempts of astrologers nor the magical powers of Sidhas worked. He
was ready to do anything to get rid of pain. Then he heard about the
Vilwamangalathu Swami. He hurried to the Swami’s place and explained about the
problems. The Swami wanted to wait till his puja was over. Swami got the vision
of Bhagavan at the end of the puja. He prayed for the sick man. The answer he
got was that the problems of that person were due to the sins he committed in
his previous birth. So Vilwamangalam Swami said he had to go through the
suffering. The sick man cursed himself and went back.
A few
days later, he met with a man who was the follower of Kurooramma. The patient neared
him desperately. Kurooramma advised him to meditate on Ramajapa (chanting the
name of Rama). Which will takes sins away. The patient followed her advice. He
started his meditation right away. The words of great men bring more effect.
There is story to illustrate this. Once a lady took her son to Ramakrishna
Paramahamsa with a complaint that the boy consumed lot of sugar in spite of her
warnings and requested him to talk to the boy. The kind Paramahamsa wanted her
to come back next week. Ramakrishna's words worked and the boy stooped eating
sugar.
Kurooramma had much confidence and
good experience in Ramajapa (chanting the name Rama) which was in her breath. The
man who came for advice happened to be an eager student of hers. She was a pure
and qualified guide. The magic word was Rama. It worked wonders. He started to
feel better. He attended the satsangas and participated in the group chanting. He
completely got rid of his illness.
In
this Kaliyuga, chanting of Bhagavathnama will wash away the sins (even the
prarabhdha karmas).
