Pvt. George W. Garner
George was born in Dekalb Co. Ga. July 11, 1842. Sometime in 1842 he and his family moved to Paulding Co. Ga. George
enlisted in the 8th Battalion Georgia Infantry Co. B in Dallas, Ga. under Capt. J.A.R. Hanks on October 5 1861. He was sent to train
at Calhoun Ga. at Camp Black. On Oct. 22, 1862 he was transferred to the 1st Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters where he remained
until the end of May 1864. According to records George became ill and was sent home to Dallas Ga.
After the war George resumed farming and married Martha. Together they raised five kids Susi, William, George, Becky and Mattie.
George died on Nov. 21, 1921 and is buried in Bethany Church cemetery in Paulding Co. Ga.
