Sgt. Timothy Thornton
Timothy was born in 1840. On April 18, 1862 he enlisted in Co. B of the 54th Georgia Inf. On July 30, 1862 he was transferred to the 1st
Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters Co. C. Timothy was appointed Sergeant Aug. 17, 1862. He served continuously from this time until his
capture at Jonesboro Ga. Sept 1, 1864. No other information was found in his records. Timothy was the brother of Jonathan, and nephew
of James and William Thornton who also served in Co. C of the 1st Battalion Georgia Sharpshooters.
