Camera Letter with Translation

Thank you to Tessa and Rob for allowing me to post this camera letter to our JUNE 2001 DTC website. Tessa says, Don't forget to send the camera and letter to the institute, and to put the name of the child (original name given in China) on top of the camera too, otherwise they might take snaps of the wrong child. This is a wonderful way to receive precious photos of your child and of the people who took care of them.

This can also be printed out from our YahooGroup page at:

Dear Mr. /Mrs << Name director Institute, not in characters>>

We are grateful to the Chinese people that we will be able to adopt << Chinese name of the child, not in characters>> We are sending you some pictures of ourselves and our house, the new home of our daughter, to show you what her new family looks like. We are enclosing one camera, which contains its own film, and ask that you please take pictures of the orphanage director, the people who cared for our daughter, and the orphanage itself. If our daughter is in foster care, it is very important that pictures also be taken of her foster parents. And of course a few pictures of the child would be appreciated. It is obvious that we provide you with a more then sufficient amount of pictures to take, we do not expect you to use them all, although it would be appreciated if you make a set of photos for our child. If you can take these pictures for us and return the camera to us when we meet in << Gotchaplace, not in characters>>, we will have memories to share with our daughter as she grows older, and will help answer her questions who took care of her when she was a baby. We will teach her to honour her Chinese heritage, her unknown birthparents, and those who cared for her as a baby.

Thank you for your excellent care for our daughter.
