Will of Richard Wilkinson Isle of Wight, Virginia Will Book 4, pages 418-421 In the name of God amen the thirteenth Day of April in theYear of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and forty one. I RICHARD WILKINSON of Newport parish in the County of Isle of Wight being in perfect sence and memory thanks be to God for it. And calling to mind that all flesh must Die, and being willing to settle my Temporal affairs Do make Constitute and ordain this to be my Last Will & Testament in manner & form as followeth. Viz:

Item - I Give and Bequeath to my Grandaughter MARY HOLLADAY the whole plantation whereon I now Liveth, with all my whole Right Title & Appurtenances thereunto belonging to her my said Gran-Daughter MARY HOLLADAY and the Heirs of her Body for Ever. And in Case she my sd Gran-Daughter MARY HOLLADAY should Die without such Heir then I Give the sd plantation Right & c. To my Gran-Daughter EASTHER HOLLADAY and the Heirs of her Body for Ever. Any in case she should Die without such Heirs, then I Give the said plantation Right & c to my Grand-son JAMES PEDIN and the Heirs of his Body Lawfully Begotten for Ever. An in case he should Die without such heir then I give the said plantation Right & c to my Grand-son WILKINSON PARKER and the Heirs of his Body Lawfully Begotten for Ever, And in case he should Die without such Heir then I give the said plantation Right & c To my Gran-Daughter ANN PEDIN and the Heirs of her Body for Ever.

Item - I Give and Bequeath to my aforesd Gran-Daughter MARY HOLLADAY my Still cap, Worm and Tubb, my great Looking Glass and Brass Kittle. And also one Negro Woman Zilphor by name which ANTHONY HOLLADAY my said Gran-Daughters Father has now in possession. And in case the sd Negro Zelphor should Breed then I Do Give one of her increase to my Gran-Daughter EASTHER HOLLADAY, and one to my Gran-Daughter CHARITY HOLLADAY & their Heirs for Ever.

Item - I Give and Bequeath to my Daughter MARY PEEDIN, Wife of the Rever'd Mr. JAMES PEDIN the use of four Lotts in Newport Town Known by the Names & No.

12, 14, 15 & 16 During her Natural Life and after her Decease I Give the sd.

Lotts No. 12, 14, 15 & 16 To my Gran-Son JAMES PEDIN son of my said Daughter MARY to him and his for Ever.

Item - I Give and Bequeath to my said Daughter MARY PEDIN the whole and sole use of Negro Pool and her Increase which she has now in possession, and also Negro Peter, June, Jude, Tone & Aris a Child of the said June / that is to say / the Use of those Negros to my said Daughter MARY PEDIN During her natural Life.

Item - I Give & Bequeath to my said Daughter MARY PEDIN one best of my Feather Beds & furniture, and if in case my said Daughter, MARY PEDIN should com and live in Newport Town it is my Will & Desier she should keep in the pasture whereon I now liveth four milck cows so long as she shall live in the sd Town further I Give and Bequeath unto my said Daughter MARY PEDIN one Negro Woman called by the Name of old Venus to her and her Heirs for Ever.

Item - I Give and Bequeath to my Grand-Son JAMES PEDIN after the Decrease of my Daughter MARY PEDIN, Six Negros, Viz, the aforesd Pool,Tone, June, Ares & two of Pools Children, Mingo and Patience To him my said Gran-Son JAMES PEDIN and his Heirs for Ever further I Give to my said Gran-Son JAMES PEDIN Twenty pounds Cash which I have in a Purse.

Item - I Give and Bequeath to my Gran-Son WILKINSON PARKER after the Decease of my said Daughter MARY PEDIN the aforesd Negro Peter to him and his Heirs for Ever.

Item - I Give and Bequeath to my Daughter ANN BAGGNALL / after the Decease of my aforesd Daughter MARY PEDIN / the Use of the aforesd Negro Judy to her my said Daughter ANN BAGNALL During her Life. Also I Give to my said Daughter ANN one Feather Bed and furniture and it is my Will and Desier that the Negro Frank & her increase should to whom NATHAN BAGNALL / my said Daughter ANN Deceased Husband / gave them in his last Will.

Item - I Give and Bequeath to my Gran-Son WILLIAM BAGNALL / after my said Daughter ANN BAGNALLS Decease, the aforesd Negro Woman Jude to him and his Heirs for Ever.

Item - I Give and Bequeath to my Gran-Daughter ANN PEDIN /after the Decease of my aforesd. Daughter MARY PEDIN / one Negro Girl Young Venus to her my said Gran Daughter ANN PEDIN and her Heirs for Ever. Also I further Give to my said Gran-Daughter ANN PEDIN one Negro child of the Body of Poll name Jone to her and her Heirs for Ever.

Item - I Give & Bequeath to my Daughter RACHEL NORSWORTHY my Desk and it is also my Will and Desier that the Increase of Negro Rose shall go as THOMAS PARKER / my said Daughter RACHELLS Deceased Husband / gave them in his Last Will.

Also I Give to my said Daughter RACHELL one feather Bed & Bolster.

Item - I Give and Bequeath to my Gran-Daughter ELIZABETH GODWIN / wife of THOMAS GODWIN / the use two Young Negroes which she has in possession by name Rose & Harry Dureing her naturall Life and in case she leaveth any Issue of her Body then I Give the said two Negros to the sd Heir of her Body but if in case she Dies without such Issue or Heir of her Body then I Give the sd Negros Rose & Harry, Viz; Rose to my Gran-Son WILLIAM PARKER and Harry to my Gran-Son NATHAN BAGGNALL & their Heirs for Ever. Item, I Give and Bequeath also to my said Gran-Daughter ELIZABETH GODWIN two Ews and no more.

Item - I Give and Bequeath to ANN GILES one Feather Bed & Furniture.

Item - I Give & Bequeath to my Gran-Son RICHARD BAGNALL my Gun.

Item - I Give & Bequeath to my Gran-Son WILLIAM PARKER Twenty shillings.

Item - I Give & Bequeath to my Gran-Son NATHAN BAGGNALL Twenty shill.

Item - I Give & Bequeath / after my Just Debts and Legacies and Discharge all the rest of my Estate to be Equally Devided Between my three Daughters, Viz, RACHEL NORSWORTHY, ANN BAGGNALL, MARY PEDIN, and my Gran-Daughter MARY HOLLADAY.

Item - It is my farder Will & desire that what I have given in this my Last Will to my Daughter MARY PEDIN, that she my said Daughter MARY shall Act & Do with it and the use and profits thereof, as she shall see proper, for the Use of her self and children in her Life time, and that her Husband JAMES PEDIN shall not interrupt her nor have anything to Do with it nor, the profit thereof.

And that after her Death they shall return, as is heretofore in this my Last Will & Testament Given.

Item - I Lastly make ordain constitute and Appoint my son in Law ANTHONY HOLLADAY whole & Sole Extor of this my Last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fix't my Seal this 13th day of April

At a Court held for Isle of Wight County Sept 27th 1742 The last Will & Testament of RICHARD WILKINSON Deceased was present'd in Court by ANTHONY HOLLADAY the Extor therein named who made oatherto and being proved by the oath of JOHN APPLEWHAITE, GEORGE REYNOLDS, & LEMUEL GOODWIN the Witnesses thereto is admitted to Record / Truly Recorded Test JAMES BAKER, Cl Cr
