Caroline E. Lewis

Caroline E. Lewis was the daughter of Francis Lewis II.  He was born 26 Dec 1768 in Dinwiddie Co., VA and died 01 May 1837 in Lowndes Co. AL.  (dates from his grave marker)  Francis Lewis II married Mary Dixon (Polly) Hall (who was born abt 1783).

Hartwell Vick Smith was the son of Edward Smith (b. 1755) and Nancy Clark according to Charlene Boyd.  Edward Smith died in 1808 in Greensville County, VA. (Family researcher, Nadia Rae Venable Calvert, shared her information on this family with Charlene Boyd)  

Edward Smith and Nancy Clark Smith had nine children:  

1.  Byrd Clark Smith (b. 5 Jan 1786), 

2. Angelina Watkins Smith (b. 20 Mar 1788), 

3.  Martha "Patsy" Smith (b. abt 1790), 

4.  Edwin Peete Smith, (b. 25 May 1792), 

5.  James Henry smith (b. 1798), 

6.  Edward Watkins Smith (b. 1801), 

7.  Benjamin James Smith (b. 1805), 

8. Hartwell Vick Smith (b. 3 Aug 1806), 

9.  Sarah Ann Smith (b. 1807).  

All of the children were born in Greensville County, VA.
