    Notes on Spivey grant:  In the Granville Militia in 1754 under Col. William Eaton with his brother and 3 of his uncles ... on the Tax List of 1753. A Sergeant in Granville Co, Militia in 1771 commanded by Jonathan Kittrell. He sold food and feed to the Revolutionary Army. Leo has a voucher on this as proof. He was given a grant of land from the Earl of Granville. Will dated 11 Oct 1792 and probated February 1793... says Leo.
