Mahala (Brantley) Eason died between 1891-1896...I don't know her exact death date.   John married Nancy May (Vester) Joyner about 1896.   John and Nancy had Jackson Eason together, for sure...Lula Eason was born about 1897 and was probably their first child together...but, I'm not positive about this.

Nancy had Charly, Melvin and Patrick Joyner and she said, in 1900, that she had given birth to 6 children and that 4 children were living on 22 June 1900.   She also said she had been married to John Eason for 4 years, by this date.   John Eason, on the other hand, stated that he had 7 children living and that he, too, had been married to Nancy for about 4 years, on this same day in 1900.   And, if you note, I have listed 7 children that John and Mahala had together, which seems to back up this census enumeration.

I know this is more than three children but, unless the relationships were misstated in multiple censuses, these were her children, nevertheless.   I hope this helps, instead of confuses.
