USCGC Jefferson Island (WPB-1340)

The USCGC Jefferson Island is a 110 foot patrol boat suited mainly for Search & Rescue and law enforcement. The class was constructed in 3 batches, with various modifications and improvement made with each batch. The Jefferson Island was constructed with the last batch and was placed into commission in 1991. The Jefferson Island has a crew of 18, a maximum speed of 30 knots, and although intended for 10-14 day patrols, they have been making patrols for as long as 60 days. The Jefferson Island is home ported in South Portland, Maine. The patch depicts the cutter in the middel of a lifering with crossed anchors. A lobster is below the cutter holding a U.S. and USCG flag with the Maine outline in the background.
