The USCGC Glacier was a 309' Ice Breaker that was originally commissioned as a US Navy ship. Commissioned in 1955 as AGB-4, the ship was transfered to the Coast Guard in 1966. The ship was placed into reserve in the early 80's and decommissioned in 1987. The patch depicts the ship with the while hull design, prior to being painted red.
