The CGC Citrus was commissioned in 1943 as a Seagoing Buoy Tender. These ships maintain buoys and other navigational aids in coastal waters. However, in 1979, the Citrus had a job change. The cutter was modified, including have the main boom removed and was painted white. It was redesignated as a Medium Endurance Cutter, so it changed from WLB-300 to WMEC-300. It continued on in it's new role until the cutter was decommissioned in 1994. The Citrus was 180 feet long, had a crew of 52, had a top speed of 13 knots and was homeported in Oregon. The patch shows and image of the ship with it's white paint scheme and lack of forward boom.
