USCGC Chippewa(WLR-75404)

The CGC Chippewa was commissioned in 1966 as the 4th ship of a class of River Buoy Tenders. There are 9 ships in this class and they all work with 90 foot buoy barges. These ships also perform AtoN work, river construction, and SAR work (if needed). The Chippewa is 75' long, has a crew of 19, and a top speed of 8.7 knots. Home port is Owensboro, KY. The patch shows the cutter and barge with and indian riding a horse above it. A map of the Ohio river region is behind the indian and the cutter. Buoys are on either side of the patch.
