USCGC Alert (WMEC-630)

The USCGC Alert is a 210' Reliance Class patrol cutter with primary missions of SAR and Law Enforcement. These cutters can land helicopters, but are unable to carry or maintain them. The Alert was commissioned in 1969 and was the last cutter of this class to be built. This cutter underwent a modernization program, which included upgraded crew quarters, firefighting system, electronics and climate control systems. The Alert has a crew of 74 and a top speed of 18 knots and is currently home ported in Astoria, OR. The patch shows the cutter with a bridge in the background. Symbols include a life ring for Search & Rescue, a fish/net for Environmental Law Enforcement, and a marajuana leaf for Maritime Law Enforcement.
