I first heard of Michael Ball in 1989 when a friend, who is very Broadway-savvy, told me of a new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical opening on Broadway. Two of the singers were going to be on the "Today Show," which he taped. We watched it with amazement, when we heard Michael's voice, and Ann Crumb's. Later, we taped the Tony Awards, where he sang with the rest of the cast, and we were hooked.
In 1994, I had an English friend send me cd's from the UK, since none of his CDs were available in the US, and that's how I eventually discovered *Discount Music UK. Thanks to the internet, I now am able to keep up with his career in ways that did not exist years ago. Though he doesn't perform in the States at all, at least I can now have access to videos and CDs
And I have met some wonderful people on these lists.
