When Pearl Harbor was bombed, the 100th was the only infantry unit in Hawaii.  When the White House discovered this, the 100th was disbanded.  But when FDR needed volunteers, the 100th was called back up and they went on to serve in Europe  attached to the 34th Division in Italy.  Following the War, the 34th division presented this resolution recognizing the actions of the 100th/442nd.
