Hip Score 3:3

Teak was the first puppy we bought to show. I was new to showing and didn't make the best of him in the early days and despite my handling he was awarded two firsts at his and our first Championship Show! The Judge was Mrs Julia Iles-Hebbert at Berkshire Downs and Chilterns Golden Retriever Club.  I had been told by 'an expert' that she would not like him at all (he was not her type)  and I was wasting my money. I went anyway and could not believe my luck.  He was placed fourth in a strong Junior Class, and won Maiden and Novice!  I went home on cloud nine. He then started to win and gain places at Open shows and he won our first Best Of Breed (Judge: Barbara Critchley) when he was about 20 months, beating dogs I had admired and then won the gundog group (Judge:  Denise Barney).  At another Open show when he was 21 months he was awarded Best of Breed (Judge: Tom Grant) and then went onto Best in Show (Judge: Ellis Hulme)

Andy took the photo below when we got home with our trophies.  I assume I had managed to stand him better than this when he won it all!
