Fun Stuff!
During our school Sports Festival, we compete against each other in many different contests. Most of our contests are a little out of the ordinary. For example, here we are racing around the track carrying floats we built ourselves. And below, we are having a good old-fashioned tug-of-war - between two entire classes!
We celebrate the harvest season by holding an Agricultural Festival. At the festival, we sell our vegetables and crafts and we make 'mochi'. 'Mochi' is a japanese sticky-rice ball made by pounding the rice until it becomes a very sticky paste. Then it is rolled into a ball and sprinkled with a sugary powder. Its very delicious!
We celebrate the coming of spring and the beginning of rice planting season by enjoying things like a 30 kilometer (18.6 mile) walk through the country-side (left) and singing in a intra-class chorus contest (below).
